My family & I have eaten at the Agean at least 100 times. Sometimes, the service is slow but the food is always fantastic & the staff usually do the best they can with what they have.
Tonight was totally different. We were celebrating my Mom's birthday and happy to gather at the restaurant.
The waitress was very nice at first, & she was super busy. We couldn't get refills on our bevs, at one point I got up and stood next to the drink machine for about 3min, countless servers walked right by me and none asked if they could help. So, I went ahead and just poured myself a Diet Pepsi real quick, and went right back to my seat. (I didn't touch the ice) I shouldn't have poured myself the drink I know... , But I was so thirsty & no one would help me. After I returned to my seat one of the servers came out and asked me not to get out of my seat. I apologized & asked if she could help refill my family's drinks (no one ever did, no big deal).
After dinner, none of the servers would clear any of our dishes, or bring us boxes. About 15min later, our original server asked of we wanted dessert. We declined & asked for our checks & 2 boxes. My 80 y/o grandmother insisted on paying the tab for everybody. When the server brought the check it was $224 with a $68 gratuity added (30%) the menu says parties of 6 or more will have a 20% gratuity. (which is fine & understandable) I got up and asked the server to explain. This is when everything went crazy. She got super mean & upset & showed me the menu says 20%. I pointed out to her that the check she brought had a 30% gratuity added.
She said she was too busy & the check was correct. Anyways, I left the restaurant with my 2y/o daughter because the serve staff was getting upset with us. I told my Dad to stay with my Grandma & make sure she pays no more than 20% on the tip.
From there it took an additional 25 min for them to bring my grandma a revised check. They also sent a cook from the Kitchen to make sure my 80 y/o grandmother was going to pay the check. (so unprofessional) the lady owner that is usually present when my family comes to eat at the Agean is currently out of town for 3 months. This would have never happened if she had been there tonight. We always love dinner at the Agean, but after tonight, I think we're gonna skip it for awhile.
Any restaurant I have ever worked at automatically takes the auto grat off of a check if the customers were unhappy for any reason or received poor service.
My Grandma waited an additional 25min for the auto grat to go from 30% down to the corrected 20%. I hope the nice lady owner comes home sooner than later & corrects the mess of a waitstaff she currently has.

Read moreWe frequent the Aegean In Shalimar 2-3 times a month minimum, always nice always friendly and real good food. Tonight we went and it must have been the B or C team working. We were greeted right away and sat by a nice young blonde haired lady. Next a few minutes later a younger brunette female came over and took our order. As she went to make the drinks at the drink station there was a tall partly bearded male taking paper towels and drying his sweat from his face and hair near the drink station, I thought strange. Next, we have our drinks and our salads come out right away, normal. A little while later and our appetizer came out. Great! We finshed the salads and appetizer and still no entree, huh a little longer than normal no big deal. Drinks are low no refills from the brunette I mean she did have only 3 tables. Finally our food comes out, the blonde female brought it, she also refilled our drinks. She seems to know what’s going on. As we begin our meal, mine is barely above room temperature, I look around to find our waitress and she’s at the ice bin, over the ice bin actually, fixing her hair, next the tall male comes by the drink station and drys his sweat off again, gross, and flips his hair styling it while making drinks over the open ice bin, I don’t even want to imagine what’s in all the drinks in the restaurant. Eventually we are able to flag down the blonde female and inform her of the cold meal and that we are just ready to leave. She offered to reheat the meal or give a us a desert, but we were just ready to get out of there. Paid our bill and left. Terrible experience! Not sure we will be back for a long time. Sad too, because we loved your...
