Absolutely Disgusting Food and Even Worse Service I recently visited the Boomerang Diner on Broadway in Shawnee, OK, and it was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I ordered a simple to-go meal of a ham and cheese omelet, hash browns, toast, and coffee. The total came to $17.02, and I added a $3.40 tip. I was halfway through my meal when I discovered that half of the omelet was completely raw! As someone who was just recovering from a stomach bug, this immediately made me queasy, and I ended up throwing up. I returned to the diner with the contaminated food and was greeted by a server who offered to make me a new omelet. I explained that I was concerned about food contamination and simply wanted a refund. The server showed the raw omelet to the manager, and I could hear the manager acknowledging that it was indeed undercooked. However, when the server returned, he insisted that they would only make me a new one. I objected and demanded a refund, but the manager refused because I had already eaten half of the meal. I was shocked and appalled by this response. I reiterated my concerns about food poisoning and even asked other customers if they had experienced similar issues with their food. The manager then threatened to call the police on me for "stating facts and asking questions"! I left the diner feeling disgusted and disrespected. I was wearing torn and tattered shoes and work clothes as I was on a construction job, and as a Native American, I couldn't help but feel that my appearance and race played a significant role in the way I was treated. The manager's refusal to issue a refund for a clearly contaminated meal was unacceptable, and his threat to call the police was completely uncalled for. I would strongly advise anyone considering eating at this establishment to think twice. The food is poorly prepared, the service is terrible, and the management is downright hostile and potentially discriminatory. I will be disputing the charge with my bank and will never return to this...
Read moreReally disappointed with my first experience here. Not much of a wait for a table, figured this was a good sign. Got a table, ordered fairly fast, got drinks. Yay! Then the wait began. Had great company so not boring. However, I watched two other tables come in, order, get served, ate and left. An entirely different waitress walks by and asked if we were good, I said yes, just waiting for food. She walked away. 15 min later a third waitress came by and asked if we needed refills. Yes of course, we still don't have food. Filled our drinks, no ice. Warm sweet tea is awful. Finally 10 minutes after that, our food arrives in the arms of a fourth waitress. Food was mostly cold, bacon was hard as a rock. We ate quickly as we had been waiting for an hour for the food to arrive. While I was cutting into my pancake, the first waitress drops the check and takes off. The second waitress comes up when I'm halfway through my plate and starts pulling plates asking if we want our drinks to go. One of my companions stated he was still hungry. She demanded to know if he wanted something else or if he was just saying that. My partner went to pay, we left. For all the cute commercials you would think it would have been better. Can't say if the food was good since it was cold and I didn't feel comfortable trying to finish my meal since she wanted us to leave so bad. I really love small town restaurants and small businesses but this is a place I will never return to. So...
Read moreI love this location, however there is one waitress that ruins my experience everytime she's working. Cherokee has to be the rudest waitress I've ever had the displeasure of encountering. I get that she's a teenager and waiting tables isn't the most exhilarating job, but you chose it so don't be hateful. She is rude to most of the customers unless she knows you. On my most recent visit I came in and the diner was empty save for a teenage boy she was talking to at the counter. I was not greeted or acknowledged by her; she was busy flirting with the boy. After a little over 5 minutes she finally came to booth I was in across from the counter to take my drink order. I was completely ready to order so I told her what all I wanted. She flatly told me "No" with a scowl on her face. When I told her that was fine I'd take my business elsewhere she blocked me in the booth and stated she was just kidding. I was not amused! I've spoken to management before and they're always apologetic, but I've not seen in change in the way Cherokee acts. I'm not sure how this girl still has a job! I can't be the only one who's complained about...
