Disappointed. Two years ago I left a glowing review for this location, because it was absolutely wonderful. The staff was polite and the food was correct every time. We ate solely at this location for over a year, before buying a house out of town. We happened to be in the area today and couldn't resist stopping in to get our favorite food, from our favorite location. This is where the disappointment started.
Pickles no longer come with the sandwich, unless you specifically ask for it. This is not something that is addressed to you while you are ordering, no "and would you like a pickle with that sandwich? ", so remember to ask for it.
Ordered two of the family sized 32oz $6 sides; one mac and cheese, the other cucumber tomato salad. Recieved a mac and cheese container the same size as the kids meal mac, and did not get our cucumber tomato salad. To specify, not the smaller "side" portion the kids meals get with an entree but the slightly larger container that the kids meal comes with when the mac is their full meal. We had to go back to get the c&t salad, which thankfully came as a full 32oz container. The size comparison between the two containers is laughable.
Kids meal was missing its cookie, but was replaced on our return trip.
When we ordered our sandwiches to have a pickle and an extra side of sauce on the side (thousand island&horseradish), what we first recieved was complete soaked sandwiches with double sauce on the sandwich. Thankfully they offered to replace them, but we decided instead to just keep the wrong ones and reorder the mistake sandwiches again the correct way. What we recieved the second time, still wasn't correct. We were very clear that we wanted our sandwiches normal the way it comes with sauce on it, a pickle each, and an extra side of sauce on the side as in not on the sandwich. So, the second time we recieved sandwiches without sauce on them at all, and just a single sauce on the side. No pickles.
Although the staff was polite and friendly this visit, we were never able to achieve the order we wanted to recieve. It was a disappointing visit this time, saved only by the nice people working there and their upbeat attitudes. They need more training in the kitchen or more guidance on checking and bagging...
Read moreTo preface, this review is based on my experience ordering for delivery from DoorDash and the difference in pricing between that menu and their regular restaurant menu. Food was excellent... BUT...
For my first experience with Mcalister's Deli, I ordered online from DoorDash. The food was very, very good and so I went online to find their website as I wanted to put in on my "list" of places to go to eat when friends/family come in town. Imagine my surprise when I look at the menu and the prices are nearly a dollar less (and in some cases a lot more than a dollar) than they are on DoorDash AND when you order from DoorDash, you don't get the second side (the chips, basically). This is not stated on the DoorDash site--usually restaurants note that the pricing is different than at the actual restaurant.
For example, the King Club at the restaurant is $8.99 (per their online menu) and comes with a side and a bag of chips. For comparison, their menu on DoorDash lists the King Club for $10.35 and comes with your choice of one side. Period.
To be honest, I don't mind that they do this, just think they need to make note of it on their menu at the DoorDash website. All this being said, the food was really,...
Read more(see important UPDATE at end) here is the original review - Normally I give McAlister's a 5 star rating. Not today. I ordered take out, and proceeded to sit in the waiting area for take-out.
After a while it seemed a lot longer than it should have been, I got up and walked over to the far side of the ordering counter and saw 4 takeout orders. While looking, one if the servers asked if I was Tom, I said yes, and she pushed the bag towards me. I asked why she didn't call me. She said she did. I pointed out where people wait for orders and that her voice couod not be heard over there. She acted incredulous, as though it didn't matter.
Another person followed me to find that her order was also ready for some time. The food is good and delivery to tables is fine but beware if you order take out. This person was either untrained, didn't care, or both. End of Original Review -
UPDATE
Here is an update. I now have returned my 5 star rating for this McAlister's. They have assured me that the problem I experienced is fixed and that they will announce takeout orders properly in the future. The company's quick response, clear apology, and desire to improve are testaments to first rate...
