First two visits we were greeted and served well although our orders were incorrect. (Gave both of us smothered steak instead of meatloaf.) We took a guest Saturday night and had a very inexperienced 17-year old server. She didn't know what the nightly special was (catfish) or how it was prepared; it had a good flavor, nonetheless. Our guest ordered something with mashed potatoes and it was a huge sea of white blandness. There was one other table of quiet diners, seated behind us. Picture this: an entire restaurant, nearly empty. Where would you seat a family with screaming children? Hey, put 'em next to the only two tables of guests you have, right? Ruined our meal 100% and shut down conversation. All the wait staff were seated, chatting at a table in the back and we had to call to them to come take our plates. The 17YO stacked all of our plates right in front of me. We asked the waitress what cakes and pies they had, and she said, "Apple, raisin/sour cream, and...a whole lot of them." Clueless. Our guest wanted carrot cake but was told they were out, so she ordered something else. After she finished the meal one of the (very pleasant) wait staff came to our table with a carrot cake that had just been delivered, to tell our guest, "Aren't you sorry you didn't know about this a while ago?" Way to make us feel welcome. No wonder there were only three tables occupied in a Saturday night. We will not be back, and I don't want to be contacted...
Read moreIf you like a waitress that puts you after other diners that arrived later than you, has you wait 10 minutes for your salad, served one with ranch dressing when it was ordered with French dressing and then says they sound similar. Brings out our food and gets the orders mixed up, we were a party of two. Said she’d be right back with our dinner rolls. I saw her handing checks out and getting water for a customer….this was across the dining room front us. After five plus minutes I went to the manager and requested our rolls and mentioned that our loaded potatoes didn’t have the butter or the sour cream on them. The waitress came back said the rolls were warming and as she set down the sour cream and butter for our now cold baked potatoes she said, ‘this was the kitchen’s fault’ and I politely said, ‘not really, you should have noticed at least the sour cream was missing and brought it up to the kitchen.’ Shouldn’t publicly blame them, a sincere apology would have worked. Since then she did not have eye contact with me and handed the check to my husband….I was the one paying. This waitress needs to be retrained. 1. Serve who arrives first 2. Double check the order. Check orders before you deliver and don’t blame others, I do agree that the kitchen should have double checked the order, but don’t play the blame game.
Most definitely treat all dining guest with respect. I’ll avoid having her be my...
Read moreWe decided to try something we hadn't done before and something local for dinner one night with the family. I regret that we went to Pegah's west location. Our waiter got some things on our order wrong (my daughter asked for a hamburger without cheese, it came with cheese; my wife wanted no hard boiled eggs on her salad, it came with eggs; my son ordered sprite and got water). That kind of stuff doesn't usually create a problem, but he was never around to tell him we wanted some things fixed. Anyway, the kids liked their burgers, but the chicken tenders were your basic, everyday frozen chicken tenders, and were rock hard. My burger was dry and lacked flavor. The price would have indicated a good diner burger, but I could have gotten a better burger at Sonic, and thrown in the tots and drink for the same price. It was just a plate full of blah! The fries tasted like they were fried in very old oil, something I should have guessed when I smelled the telltale smell of old cooking oil when we entered the restaurant.
I see positive reviews for this restaurant, and I hope that our experience was a fluke. Maybe it's an ok breakfast spot, but for lunch or dinner, nothing really seemed special about the place. I hope Pegah's already has a loyal following, because our experience as new customers ensured that we are not going to be repeat customers. It's a shame, because I love it when good local places...
