** So apparently, there was an addition from "someone" at Van's asking for the exact date and time of our purchase from over a year ago. Not sure when this "addition" happened because up to several months following our poor visit and experience there, we did not receive any feedback. Maybe they are just experiencing poor turn out now and have decided that they will learn "customer service" principles and reach out. Or maybe, they are just hoping they can imply that this poor experience never happened due to the length of time gone by, and our lack of a response. So, here goes. Yes, we really ate at your establishment. Yes, we really spent over $100.00 to be treated rudely. Yes, we left a sizeable tip to compensate the staff for packing our food (and I guess, to treat us with disdain). No, I will not go back through over a year of bank statements to find the exact date and time we were there and had ordered food. Here is what I expect from this exchange. I expect that you will no longer treat your customers as though they owe you their business. I expect you will treat them as you would a family member that you have longed to see for some time. I expect that you would treat them as your own family when they are concerned for the care you have shown or refused to show. If you do these things, then you will have the 'light' come back 'on', and your business will flow nonstop. Humility is the price we all pay for the success we so desire. Let's see if maturity is a part of your DNA.
So, use to think quality and service were superior here. Apparently, no longer the place to eat. Placed an order for pick up with a total well over $100.00. During the ordering process had to edit several items, with all updating on my end. When we arrived to pick up the order, we were missing some items and one of the edits didn't come through. Instead, of doing the right thing in the customer service realm; the manager (a "blonde"), informed my son, "You ordered chicken, you get chicken!" Wow! (Someone needs some retraining on how to communicate and interact with their guests.🙃). And, the proper steps to prevent poor retention of guest, and subpar reviews...would be to fix the issue. Not, be so disrespectful and rude to a paying guest. When I went back to ask for my tip to be returned...I was met with the same rudeness and disdain. (Sigh) Looks like Van's has stopped giving a care for the way inwhich they are viewed, and I have decided, the food is definitely not worth the hassle of dealing with the...
Read moreDrive through lunch pickup for my wife. I pull up at 12:25, no other cars. I order sliced chicken sandwich, baked beans, UNsweet ice tea. I pull to the window and pay the $15, the gentleman says, I'll go get your order. I wait...I wait...at 12:40 the same gentleman comes back to the window and asks if I'm there to pick up an order. So I say, yes the one I already ordered (difficult to keep the irritation out of my voice at this point). He looks confused for a second, leaves and comes back with the bag. "Sorry about that, they've had this ready for a while." He goes to leave, so I say , may I have the drink that goes with it, and again tell him an UNsweet ice tea. Minutes later that gets delivered. Another sorry about that. I get home, hand it to wife, she takes one drink and tells me it's mine (sweet tea, of course). On a happy note she said the $15 chicken sandwich is really really good. Slow smoked with lots of flavor.
I get it, you're busy. Things get missed, customers get forgotten at the drive through. At least try to make it right though, especially if you know you screwed up.
Come on, offer me another bbq sauce, a free rib, a larger drink, something other than...nothing. "sorry about that" is fine if you step on my foot or bump me in line. But when I'm paying (premium$) and wait a quarter hour or more,...
Read moreToday I ordered the Two Meat Meal, it comes with 2 sides.. your choice of 2 meats, I got the ribs and pulled pork, the the over all experience is good, the food delivery is pretty quick, not to bad for a lunch. What to expect when you order ribs. Don't expect a full size rib, you get ribletts, St. Louis style. For the price you pay for a 2 meat dinner and get ribletts is just sad, it would have been better if you get 3 instead of 2 ribs, but you do get a decent size portion of pulled pork. The side of potato salad was good, not bad tasting, but nothing special, it lacks that "Wow" factor, its taste store bought. The fried okra was pretty good, it was a good size portion and flavors are what you expect from fired okra..
Quality of the rib is decent, the flavors are average, nothing stands out really, its not overly smoked or under smoked, its not over seasoned or under seasoned..but it missing something... oh yeah.. its missing the other half of the rib. The meat is somewhat tender, but not fall off the bone tender, but still good. The pulled pork was pretty good in the way of flavor, enough fattiness to pull you in with the flavors, juicy, tender, pretty good average tasting product.
give it 3 stars.. It's an average place. which is sad because its the best...
