Wendy's — Restaurant in Shawnee

I love Wendy's burgers, but I rarely go there because the service is terrible at the SMP location. Last time I was at the drive thru, they just handed me a bag without saying anything. I had a somewhat large order so I waited to confirm that I had it all. After a minute, they asked if I needed anything else. I asked if that was all and they said yes so I pulled away. We checked the bag and as usual, it was missing a sandwich and fries. I drove around front, parked, and walked inside. I explained to the employee at the counter what I was missing and showed her the receipt. She went and told the employee running the drive thru and a moment later she brought me my receipt and walked away asking if that was all I needed. I held up my receipt and explained I was missing my spicy chicken combo meal and that I paid for a slice of cheese on it. She walked off and came back a moment later and put a sandwich in the bag and walked off again. The employee at the counter explained again that I needed fries too. She brought them and dropped them into the bag and they all spilled out into the bottom of the bag. I had enough, so I just took the bag and left. After that whole event, I still did not have cheese on the sandwich even though I had paid for it. This is the usual kind of service I get at this location. Some employees are rude but not all and they almost always screw up the order. I would not recommend...

This Wendy's was knocked down and rebuilt in late 2015. It's now one of the "fancy" Wendy's stores with a modern decor and fireplace in the dining area. The new store is a huge improvement over the old one.

When it first opened they were a little slow, but I won't deduct points on that as it seems they even hired new staff and were working with new registers. The counter where you order is a bit odd. It's sort of a V shape which seems it'd cause problems if there was a long line. The few times I've been to that store were not busy times. There was only one or two other customers, so I didn't have to wait.

As with any other fast food restaurant, it's not gourmet, so don't expect a "wow" meal. They do have a value menu which can feed you at a reasonable price. In general, the food at this store is pretty decent. Of the big fast food franchises, Wendy's is a little higher on the list of quality.

It's a good place to feed the kids. The kids meals there are a good size and priced right. They never have "good" toys in the meals, as they are usually a game or something similar. Be aware of that if the kids think they'll be getting a toy.

The reason why I am writing is because of your staff at this location. One person in particular.

I watched a team member of yours (Bella) go above and beyond with a customer waiting in line. I hope you recognize her, publicly. She deserves it. After ordering, I hovered around the counter before taking a seat. The woman behind me was advanced in age, and had trouble hearing. Bella was patient and kind, repeating questions/answers multiple times. She explained things clearly, slowly and tried to do everything possible to accommodate a senior citizen with obvious physical challenges.

After filling my drink, I sat down. What I watched warmed my heard. I was so touched. It made my day. After the woman behind me ordered, Bella left her place behind the counter and carried the woman's tray to the drink station. She prepared her drink-- once again, asking questions respect and professionalism. She loaded the woman's tray with amenities, silver, napkins. As the woman had a walker, Bella first brought her tray to a clean table, then doubled back to escort her, lending assistance with walking.
