This is the first time that we decided to try this place. We first called to place the order and a guy answers the phone by saying, yeah, hello.. I had to ask if this was Azteca, and again he merely said YEAH. So, I placed my order or the puffy tacos dinner, the trio tacos, salsa and chips and a tres leches. I go in to get my order and the owner is packing food orders on the front counter where everyone comes in to be seated, pay when they leave, and pick up orders to go. That should have been my second clue because especially during covid, I don't want my food to be packed where rhw general public is checking in and out. As she is packing the orders, the same guy that answered the phone was obnoxiously complaining about customers that he was waiting on,, to the owner . She asked him if he was busy, because there was a to go order on the phone. She than asks me my name and what I ordered. She starts packing my food order and in the middle if packing it, she blurts out that her sister has covid and she was just diagnosed because her other family members, including her sisters grandchildren have it. They were all together on Halloween and they didn't have masks on. She told me what the hospital prescribed and how severely ill her sister is. I was shocked that she was telling me this as she was packing my food! I get home and we begin to unpack the food and in all of my life I have never seen or tasted such horrible food. The salsa was packed on top of the tres leches and they didn't have any of the boxes closed right. They must put some sort of cold cream on top of the tres leches because that was mixed all in the bag with the salsa all over the cake. Then, we TRY to eat the taco dinners. The taco trio was literally DROWNED with lettuce, sour cream and greasy beef, two pieces of cold hard grilled chicken, and three pieces of cold pork. The puffy tacos were filled with GREASY, DISGUSTING ground beef. It was so greasy that not only was it inedible, the grease literally made the tacos fall apart. I was so disgusted at this point, that I called to get a refund because no one should have to pay for anything like this and it was nearly $40. I began to speak with the owner and I explained everything about the food. She had the audacity to tell me that the only way she would consider giving me a refund is to return the food as proof! She was beyond rude! She actually said , well how can I know that you didn't eat the food. I can't believe a business owner would expect a customer to drive back to her restaurant to prove that her food is DISGUSTING! I said that I will prove to her that everything that I'm saying is true, by posting the pictures online. She said, go ahead because she was not giving me a refund. Everyone who is considering this restaurant, RUN DONT WALK away from this DISGUSTING restaurant. I will also be contacting the the health department. This place needs to be shown how to run a business. I thought the food was disgusting, but the owner is worse. This IS the AZTECA on MOUND!!! The other one is DELICIOUS! This one is D I S G...

I ordered the Taco Salad and they used that cheap bagged garden salad mix from a grocery store and I could taste the chemicals they spray on that mix. With that kind of pre mixed, bagged garden salad, you need a lot of salad dressing to drown out the chemical taste and non freshness of the cheap lettuce, chemicals and preservatives that they put in those bags.

Sorry, but it was the worst taco salad I've ever had.

I also ordered a cheese enchilada and the lettuce garnish on the plate tasted much better and fresher than that cheap garden salad mix that was in my taco salad.

I told the waitress about it and said I couldn't finish it and asked for a to go box so I could give it to my dog. I thought she might offer of offered me a discount but she didn't. I told the guy who cashed me out and all he says is his health is so bad that he can't tell the difference. Oh, ok. What about your customers?

It's always best to use fresh lettuce and not processed salad mix from a store. Mexican fast food restaurants have fresher taco salads. authentic Mexican food. The owners and staff are all...

I'd like to share my experience from Monday carry out. I orders 3 dinners, 3 Horchatas drinks, Chips and little taste of Guacamole. The white carry containers set up is embarrassing amount of rice and beans for a dinner of that price. They fill the bigger section with lettuce and the 2 smaller areas with rice and beans. The steak fajitas for 2 was salty as heck and they gave me cold rice and beans also forgot my bag of chips I order for the extra cost. Had to go back for the chips, I called spoke to the manager and expressed my concerns because honestly could've spend $60 plus a drive to southwest Detroit for a GREAT FOOD with leftovers for tomorrow instead of spending $80 on mediocre Mexican Food and literally threw most of it away. I feel that they should go to a REAL Mexican Restaurant and get trained cause serving the Suburbs obviously they been get a way with serving trash and making a killing on these prices. #sorrynotsorry #disappointedinmypeople...

Today I learned that Aztecas and Grand Aztecas are two different Mexican restaurants. I stumbled upon Aztecas on Mound and West Utica road. They're a smaller Mexican restaurant tucked away in the shopping center. I thought they were Grand Aztecas, but I learned that Aztecas existed since September 2001, and Grand Aztecas opened up years later. Aztecas is the original Mexican spot in the area. I was amazed with Aztecas. It's a family owned restaurant with a wonderful and filling lunch menu ($11 for lunch). I got the burritos. One chicken burrito and one beef burrito. The sauces for the chips and dip were all great. The middle one is the spicy sauce. I also chose to get a Birra Taco as well. It was pretty good. The customer service was amazing, friendly, and attentive. I got to meet the owners, wonderful people. I would recommend stopping in and trying it out.

Tucked into a small strip of shops is this hidden gem. We have been coming here for years and only now did I realize that I have never posted a review! Love the chips and fresh salsa they bring to the table before you order. The salsas are so full of flavor. You truly can't go wrong with anything you get. Everything we have had, and we have had a lot, is absolutely delicious. The shrimp cocktail is always a must have appetizer for us when it's on the menu and this one certainly does not disappoint! The staff is super friendly and will come check on you a few times during your meal for refills, etc. We have never had to wait to get a table here. As a matter of fact we have never seen a packed restaurant (which is good now considering we are still in the thick of a pandemic.) No matter what time of day you go, it is definitely worth it!

This is the most incredible Mexican food! Greeted with a smile from the moment we walked in the door — this is a outstanding example of a what authentic Mexican food made with love by family tastes like! My entire family was blown away by everything we ate — from the homemade mild and hot salsa, fresh chips, Sangría, spicy bean dip, chicken tortilla soup, beef and bean burritos, the California burrito, even tons of vegetarian options that were amazing! The churros and tres leches cake were the perfect end to our meal. We will definitely make the trip for this food!
