I ordered off of their lunch menu for my husband and I after he got done with an important surgery. I figured the lunch menu had cheaper prices than the dinner menu (as most places with lunch menus do) and so when I saw lamb chops on the lunch menu for $17 I thought, wow that’s a pretty good deal! So my husband wanted the lamb chops and I ordered them for him. We both love their lobster bisque and it was a $4 upcharge each, which we were definitely fine with that. So I thought the lamb chop lunch portion with the soup upgrade would be $21 total. When I showed up to pick up the food, I see that the lamb chops on the bill were $40! So I asked if they accidentally charged me the dinner prices, they said no and showed me the menu. The menu they showed me said the lamb chops were $36 and then with the $4 lobster bisque upcharge, that brought it to $40. I was like “wow, your website said the lunch portion is $17” (the entire time I was cool, calm and collected). The two women behind the to-go counter (one I believe was a waitress and the other I think may have possibly been a manager), were acting like I was looking at the wrong website and the one who I think was the manager said they would never have lamb chops that cheap and that if I see a restaurant with lamb chops that cheap then that’s not a good sign and the only time I could possibly get them that cheap was if I went to the store and bought them myself. So I once again, insisted that their website said the lunch portion was listed at $17 and they kept acting like I wasn’t looking at the right website. So the lady who I think was the manager was sitting at a computer but tried asking me to show her the website I was looking at (I left my phone in my car, so I wasn’t able to show her) so she pulled up the Filippa’s website on her computer and asked “did the website you looked at have these pictures on the main page” and I said “yes, I was looking at the right website, click on ‘menu’ then click on ‘lunch’ and scroll down to the bottom and you’ll see the lamb chops are listed at $17.” Sure enough, she saw what I saw (see picture attached for proof). She said “oh someone is getting fired! This isn’t correct and needs to be fixed right away!” The waitress was standing right next to her and was the one who was trying to ring me up, she had her back to me but I could see her look at the manager and I don’t know if she whispered or mouthed something but it looked like she may have said “should I honor the price?” or perhaps something along those lines and the manager shook her head no and then the waitress immediately turns around and says “so do you still want the lamb chops?” And I said “well yeah… I guess”. At this point, my husband just got done with surgery and he really needed to eat something, I wasn’t about to sit and wait for something else to be prepared. So they rang up the lunch portion of lamb chops at the full price and didn’t offer any discount or anything to try and make this misinformation/situation right. I’m sorry, but I have managed restaurants before and if there was ever any issues like this that was mis-advertised, I ALWAYS tried to make things right somehow, that’s just proper customer service and keeps regulars like me coming back. But instead they at first doubted me, made me feel gaslit, acted like I was crazy for thinking the lunch portion of lamb chops was $17 and then verified the price in front of my face with absolutely no intention of having excellent customer service. As much as I love the food at Filippa’s, I don’t think I’ll be back for a while because that whole situation just rubbed me the wrong way. I can’t believe how poorly this situation was handled. I wasn’t expecting the meal to be free but they could have offered something to make me feel better about their pricing/advertising mistake! Filippa’s customer service gets a 0/10...
Read moreI went here on a Saturday afternoon, for my niece's graduation party. The atmosphere and ambiance was just beautiful. The music was what i would expect for an Italian restaurant; Sinatra, Martin, Bennett. The room we had our party in was very nicely set up, from ample room for our size party, to very nice table linens, and place settings. The servers, though i regret i didn't get their names, were two young men, both very personable, patient, and polite. They said nothing negative, and we're very pleasurable to have as servers. One even seemed to know to serve from the left, and clear from the right. For a drink i had the Bourbon barrel Cabernet, on the wine list. Very smooth, medium body, and tasty. It went very well with my multi course meal; bread, house salad, penne in meat sauce, then 8oz filet, with mash potato, and haricots vert. The dressing was delicious, as was the au jus, for the filet. My only reservation was that they took pains to ask everyone how they wanted their filet cooked, but didn't follow through on the presentation. Now, I have worked in food service, and I know when you have large parties, to get all the steaks the right temps, all out at the right times, and mostly together, can be quite a challenge. However, if you have a hard time handling it, don't offer it. They could have easily said, all steak comes medium rare, unless you need it well done. If you want to accommodate individual palates, then do so. If you can't, don't try to pretend. My med rare steak was medium at best. My son's need rare was well done. My other son's well done, was med rare. Maybe this was just a waiter mix up, i don't know, but again, if you're going to put that out there, you have to be prepared to follow through. Taste wise, everything was Delicious. Those who had the chicken Parmesan said it was very good. I tasted my wife's penne palomino, and thought it was delectable and very well seasoned. Aside from the steak mishap, I'd give my visit here five stars. I would definitely go here again, but don't know if order a steak in such a...
Read moreLet's start this on a positive note! Atmosphere in the bar seating area on a Friday or Saturday this place gets 5Stars! The singer they have on Friday or Saturday(depending call and check) She jus made the whole night! Now on to the drinks, food and service... Drinks being charged $15 for a Dark Cherry Cosmo(on their menu) I upcharged for a choice Vodka I'm ok with that, but it coming to me only HALF full. Jus NO! Thankfully it was corrected when I ordered my second drink(same item, they were quite tasty!) Appetizers, Escargot very good, buttery, garlicy and tender. Sausage and Peppers give you a solid B+ on that sausage cooked well and two peppers(not too hot) but c'mon sliced ripple potatoes that we're potato chip thin? Still it had flavour! Entree: Ribeye (MedzRare with a Char on it, waitress assured me they are cut and processed in house)requested mashed potato and Veg Medley this is where it went really bad! My steak had no char, if the meat was "Choice"(the pricing would suggest it would be) it was SADLY lacking! Steak wasn't even an inch thick, on the tough side and wasn't seasoned AT ALL! C'mon Filippa's you'd be such a 5Star spot if you'd get your kitchen together! The rest of my companions had a Ribeye(med-well hers was charred to prefection) and the other companion had a Pasta dish with a Seafood Medley decent enough and looked very appetizing. On to the service, the young lady that covered the bar dining floor was very nice, polite and corrected almost all mistakes(we're grateful) but she was one of two on the entire floor! Had to go to the bar to get my next round of drinks and were never asked if we wanted Wine with the dinner(they do have a decent wine list) to TOP it off she never came around to ask if anyone wanted dessert! Dear Filippa's I do know these are difficult times, but you're dropping the ball on the simplest of things ie Loss of sales on drinks, wine and dessert to name a few and poor food quality! I still had an awesome time(TYVM to the Entertainer) I'd come back for an Appetizer &...
