The sushi is mediocre. Not the worst, but certainly not the best. I ordered the shrimp and vegetable tempura as an appetizer and the Volcano Boat which came with 12pcs of sushi, 12 pcs of sashimi, a volcano roll and a Michigan roll. I also ordered a salmon skin roll on the side. Appetizer was fine. Fried well and served hot which I can appreciate but nothing super special. As for the sushi and sashimi, you can taste the fish was cold from sitting in the refrigerator. The volcano roll was fried and drizzled with sriacha and mayo. The volcano roll seemed like it was filled with canned tuna rolled in rice and nori then deep fried. The Michigan roll, which contained raw fish, had the same issue as the sushi and sashimi (refridgerated fish that tasted like the refridgerator). The salmon skin roll was a waste of money. The salmon skin not fried well and the rest of the roll was filled with mostly cucumber.
Side note: My husband and I went at an odd hour (4:30pm ish) so there were a total of 6 customers (including my husband and I).
The service was terrible. Two sushi chefs and two servers dressed in all black athleisure attire. Like I said, 6 customers total and not one of servers were paying attention. They didn't ask if or when we were ready for our order. We had to flag them down even though they were literally standing right behind my husband (this restaurant is not very large so you can see everyone in plain site). We were done with our food and waiting for a server to even ask if we wanted our check. Again, we had to ask one of them for our check and a box. No hello, no goodbye.
This is not the sushi place for service. Maybe you'll have a better experience if you order take out. Overall, you can get better sushi and service elsewhere.
My one star is based on lack of quality sushi and service. If I were to rate them separately: Food - 2...
Read moreI have been going here since I was a senior in high-school which was almost 20 years now. They have some of the best sushi and it’s at a reasonable price, even today. But the last time I ordered take out, specifically a volcano roll which is almost $12, is suppose to come with mayo, Siracha, and EEL sauce drizzled on top. After picking it up, I took it to my car where I opened it up. There was no EEL SAUCE compared to the other 2 sauces, and I’ve ordered this roll countless other times! So I go back inside to ask why it wasn’t on there, first thing he says…the EEL SAUCE is on there. I’m sure they’ve had other customers with the same concern. Just waiting to make me feel crazy that I’m pointing this out. We go back and forth for a moment. I eventually ask for a little on the side bc it’s the combination of sauces which is why I pay $11.95 for a specialty roll. He says just go get the food and I’ll add MORE to the roll, you mean to ADD SOME! I didn’t think that was necessary for me to go back out to my car. So I just asked a side of sauce,oh a side of the sauce is going to be a charge! At this point, blind rage overcomes me but I pay the $1 something it cost bc I don’t want to give him the satisfaction of me going to my car and getting my take out container and him just adding A SPEC MORE of EEL SAUCE! After spending $30 on a special lunch for myself, I was so upset that I didn’t eat for a few hours later. The specialty roll is served hot and as usual, sushi is always best WHEN...
Read moreWhen the place first opened it was ok. Now (2019) it’s horrible. I ordered the jumbo lobster roll, asked how big it was they replied saying it’s big. I get the roll it’s 10% lobster and 90% lettuce, and very small. All I tasted was lettuce besides the hard shell from the lobster that almost cracked my tooth when I bit into it. Then I call them to ask why there’s bits of hard shell in it, the guy says “Oh that’s how we make them to let you know it’s the real thing”. LOL! So I asked the guy are you supposed to open the roll up and remove the shell? He says, that’s just how we make it. No warnings no nothing just bite into hard shell and shatter your teeth so you know it’s the real thing. What nerve. Then the other specialty rolls aren’t good at all. Taste and compatible on size to the smaller rolls.
I travel a lot and I’m big on sushi. I know what quality is in service and seafood. This place is horrible. Completely expensive for no reason once you go to an authentic high quality sushi place. Most places will give you 2 to 3 pieces of single order sushi/sashimi. This place charges 2.00 for one piece that’s about 2 inches long. By the time I get a decent amount to fill me up I’m spending at least 50.00 on a small order.
I don’t recommend this place. And the customer service is bad. No...
