Over the past five years or so, I have had well over $1,000 of custom framing work done at Michael's 26 Mile Rd. location. Until recently, I would rank myself as a highly satisfied customer. However, due to recent experiences, I will never return! The framing department used to be staffed by competent and highly skilled personnel. This is no longer the case. Three months ago, I took a set of drumsticks to the store to be placed in a shadow box. During this time, the project has been assembled (on more than one occasion) with dirt, dust and fingerprints on the inside of the box. All of these careless flaws were identified by both myself and a variety of employees AFTER being presented to me as being satisfactorily completed. The plaque inside of the box warped after one day. The replacement plaque has an unsightly surface bubble. After being given a verbal promise by the staff that the plaque would be replaced, the new department manager (Weston) stated that the promise to replace the plaque should have never have been made and if he would have had anything to do with it, such a promise would have never been made! Initially, the store wanted to offer a twenty percent discount to compensate for their glaring incompetence in taking three months to complete a two week job in an unsatisfactory manner. Ultimately, they are issuing a full refund and giving me the shadow box. The framing department has underwent many personnel changes recently. They have been courteous but ultimately incompetent with the exception of the new department manager (Weston) who has been both incompetent and unprofessional. I was informed by a floating store manager that he was the employee that was ultimately responsible for assembling the project with fingerprints and dust. He has also been very open with me in regard to his aggressive advocacy to refund as little money as possible and refusal to correct what is ultimately a defective and unsatisfactory project. Read moreManagement is horrible! Both managers of the store Shelly and Alyssa. Sadly both have a case of “read my title” 2 people put into a place of management that shouldn’t be. I went in when the credit card reads were “acting up” the cashier told me to put my card in twice in hopes it would send one transaction actually all the way through. The issue was with the computers and not h to e card reader itself so it charged me 2 times. I noticed it and told the manager who was there at the time (Alyssa) she proceeded to roll her eyes at me and said “the bank will fix it sweetie”. She called me sweetie a lot because of my age but I was in no mood to be belittled when $85 is leaving my bank account with nothing in my hand leaving the store. Shelly the real manager called me after I complained to “make things right” oh Alyssa the original manager I had an issue with answered the phone and hung up on me. All this over something that was their mistake. I’m honestly disappointed how the entire thing is being handled. Waiting for calls from “higher ups” whom aren’t helping fix the issue. Read moreThis review is for my custom-framing experience. I had 9 custom framing pieces done, costing over $1,400. I never received a phone call to let me know they were ready. When I'd try to call the store, I would wait and wait and then the phone would hang up.
Finally, after a few days, I got through and they told me it was indeed ready for pick-up. The man looked in the system and did confirm it doesn't look like anyone attempted to call me to let me know. I picked up 8 of my 9 pieces, but one of them was a news article where the wrong side of the page was framed. The guy behind the counter was not apologetic at all about the inconvenience this caused.
I've only done a brief inspection so far, but one of the pieces has a big black piece of dust under the frame on the white matting. Others are wrinkly in the frame, rather than pulled tightly for a flat look. I honestly expected more for the price. I honestly would not go to this location for my custom-framing needs...
