Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Shelby

I have been buying DQ since a child - I am 68 years old. I have been disappointed with this location for years, and although we used to go often, this is the first time in a year that we have decided to try it again.

First, you used to be able to get Blizzards in any flavor, now you can only get what they decide to allow in any month. I have never had anything but pineapple and coconut, and they will no longer sell this. I was not asking for something unusual, just sundae toppings. I can understand not having some things, but pineapple and coconut? They do show them on their regular sundae menu.

Second, we were enticed by a burger, the description of which I am putting below. Unfortunately, they managed to make the burger missing the 2 ingredients that made this different from McD's or BK or anywhere else. I think it's safe to say I am not going to waste the rest of whatever time I have left in my life purchasing food I am only ever disappointed with.

Every time I've been there, they have always been very nice and will joke around with me. My only problem is I wish they would put more ice cream in the milkshakes. Especially the Reese's cup. I have them to make a reese's cup shake, but the last 4 times it's been more milk than shake lol. But still a very good place.

Visit 5/14/23 The last 2 times I've went, the cashiers don't really know what they are doing. They are still very nice, but they have none to little training. Today I ordered 3 of the 2 for $5.00 where you can mix match. I told them I wanted 3 of them. And 2 of them I wanted 2 cheese burgers and on the 3rd I wanted 1 cheese burger and a fry. When I got them, none of the cheese burgers had cheese on them. I took them back, and she said I didn't order cheese burgers. I said what? Its the only burger that is on the 2 for $5 deal lmfao. After getting my cheese burgers, we ate them and I then ordered 3 Reese's cups milkshakes. Instead I got peanut butter milkshakes. You can clearly tell the difference because there was no chocolate chunks in it. But we had done pulled out of the parking lot by the time we realized it. When you enter this place seeing this sign on the door for the blizzard which they are known for is very unappealing. My son order the Jurassic chomp which comes in a special Jurassic World Cup. When we got it at first it was put into a regular cup. We had to ask for the special cup, at first to be told they didn’t have any (in which they continued to display the cup as if they did) then magically they had the cup! I shouldn’t have to request this! The service was really fast compared to other Dairy Queen’s in which I added the star for. The cotton candy pop rocks blizzard was awesome, but the blizzard wasn’t mixed all the way through and there was just plain vanilla ice cream 75% through. I don’t understand how they don’t “participate” in the upside down or it’s free program. That is part of the whole blizzard! And their electronic sign even was...
