El Acapulco Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Shelby

If looking for a Mexican restraunt this is not your go to place. Went there on a Wednesday night an it was busy and seemed short staffed. We were sat down quickly, but waited 20 mins for a waiter to ask what we wanted to drink. Orders were placed. Chips and salsa brought to table quickly. While waiting I went to use the restroom it was very filthy an unacceptable. I feel like I would of been safer using the restroom in port a potty on a construction site on the side of highway 74. Ordered Acapulco dip. It was so salty it tasted like licking a salt lick. We went through our sodas within 2-3mins and waited another 20mins to get refills meanwhile refills of chips and salsa galore. My boyfriend ordered the ACP which he would not recommend. An now the fun begins...After getting home things were not so good. Around 230am my boyfriend woke up with explosive diarrhea an vomiting an had to take Zofran(anti-nausea meds) to stop his nausea. They are rated a 96% in June by Cleveland county health dept. Yet my boyfriend an I both witnessed a worker taking the nacho chips from a huge gray trash can an dumped them into the warmer box. An the same guy was filing up salsa containers with no gloves on on. That is not proper food handling. The health dept might need to go re-inspect the place. I've been to several Mexican restaurants in Shelby and NOT one has...

This is the first time I have been to this eatery. Mexican food is the primary type of food I prefer and as a 30 year plus resident of New Mexico I keep my expectations lower in states east of New Mexico It was a busy Friday evening but we were seated quickly near the bar and were please with our seat. The service was fantastic. The particular item I ordered was a favorite of the waiter and it was absolutely delicious. The portion was such that you can split the meals into two dinners without concern. The chips that came with dinner were so-so and the red sauce that came with the chips tasted like restaurant canned. The meal was homemade and there was plenty of Mexican cheese. There was shrimp, chicken and steak in my meal and the steak was slightly over cooked. But honestly what a great meal and I have no problem going back to this place ...

I went because on the website menu say that they have menudo Saturday & Sundays only when we got there nada no menudo Michelle said. And my hubby is a joker he say to her what kind of Mexican restaurant are you guys that dont have menudo and he smile at her . I ask for a shrimp soup that it will be good for my stomach , and it was shrimp in a red super hot water I should do it at home better than that. Nobody smile there only one guy that is a server the ladies no, our server never came back to how we was doing or refill my tea .. this is the second time, 1st time we order the seafood salad no good for the price not enough food. I rather go to Mi Pueblito down the street the people come by asking if you need anything and refills of soda smiling always .I never go back there.sorry...
