Denny's — Restaurant in Shelbyville

The food was very good. UPDATE Today we stopped again at Denny's on our way home from camping. It was a wet cold week and all we wanted was a nice warm Denny's breakfast. The waitress was more worried about some drama she was talking to someone about in a booth by the kitchen, than her tables. I think we and one other table, maybe was in her section that had patrons. Our food was cold, under cooked and incorrect. I had the strawberry's and vanilla crepes breakfast. I ordered over medium eggs, hash browns and crispy turkey bacon.

The eggs were undercooked and slimy, the hash browns were basically browned but fairly raw, the crepes were slimy cold and had strawberries but no strawberry drizzle and they were ice cold. The bacon was cooked but still very soft, more to the ham consistency than bacon.

When the waitress finally decided to check on us halfway through our meal, I questioned her on the crepes. Mentioned the eggs hash browns and bacon being under cooked. She was defensive, and said there were cooked right, nothing about them being undercooked and slimy. She said they were warm off the grill and left.

NOT ONE TIME DID SHE ASK HOW THE MEAL WAS. SHE MADE NO ATTEMPT TO FIX IT.

I would of left a penny for a tip but my husband gave her 10%. I complained at the register they gave us a 10% discount.

If I could give this Denny's a zero I would. They were slow to get out food, they brought out our shakes in the metal cups they made them in, and all of the food tasted off. Shortly after eating for a bit my girlfriend went to the restroom and threw up most of what she ate, I didnt feel that great either. I'm not one to complain so we just let it go. When we went up to pay another party was already waiting we stood there for a good 5 to 10 minutes before anyone came to help. Once they were rung out the lady walked away instead of ringing me out. She said she had to help serve really quick but after she left I counted the servers and there were at least 1 for every 2 tables. So after another 5 minutes a server walked her table up to the register to ring them out ( man I wish we could have had that service). Had the other table not watched me stand there for about 15 minutes she would've taken them first. They told her to take me. So she asks how our food was and I told her it was awful and explained how it made my girlfriend throw up. She said that a night or two before they had a little girl that threw up too and they took care of their meal for them. Was I offered the same treatment? No. It's beyond me why you would bring something like that up without helping out a person in the same situation the same way. Anyways never going to a Denny's again after this. Talk about "out"! Thursday 4 of us tried to get dinners at this Denny's. $9.99 sirloin meal pictures and ads were all over the building along with a special advert on Atlantic cod in the entryway. So we waited a bit to be seated. The waitress was the hostess, too. 5ish other tables occupied, so she was busy. After seating us she took our drink orders (coffee all around) and we looked at the thick menus. 3 of us decided on the sirloin. So when she came to take our orders.... no sirloin! Only 1 T-bone left in the house..... crap! My friend asked about the cod... "nope, don't have any, we are out of, sorry, sorry, sorry" to everything we ordered! I tried a salmon salad (no tomato or onion, no lettuce) so we were at a loss as to what they DID have. Biscuits n gravy was what 2 eventually ordered. I got chicken tenders because I noticed another table had some as we walked in. The poor guy wanting sirloin or cod was talked into the salmon when he would rather have left the place! My tenders were great. His salmon was good. The b & g was tough short biscuits with watery gravy. Ugh. Thank the lord we all qualified for the senior discount so the cost was down below where it would have been if they would have had food. The waitress (dark hair) mentioned she had been there 5 years and did not use an order pad yet she kept everything straight and was jovial, sharp and fast. I'll give her 5 stars.
