Jimmy John's — Restaurant in Shelbyville

Very atypical of my experience at Jimmy John’s. Quite possibly the slowest I’ve ever received a sandwich. Ordered 20-25 minutes ahead of time as were traveling and wanted to stop for something that’s not fried.. figured it would be done when we got there, could pick it up and leave. Order was placed at 2:28 local time, we left the store almost exactly an hour after I ordered these six sandwiches.

While we were at the store, the bathroom seems to be without hot water, a trickle at best came out when I turned the faucet on, making me wonder about cleanliness. At least employees were wearing and changing gloves I suppose. After that, I got my own and chips and drinks, no problem. We sat for a few expecting just maybe it was still being made, as they had several tickets. People kept trickling in and sitting down, no orders coming out to speak of.

I approached the counter and maybe 2-3 minutes of someone standing there touching the screen and not acknowledging me passed, they looked up finally and asked what they could do for me. I asked for a status on my mobile order and he looked over and moved the receipt and let me know I’d be first priority.

25 minutes go by, I went to check again and my things were done and sitting on the back counter?

I think the highlight of this adventure was when I was standing at the register the second time checking on our order about 45 minutes in, there was a man taking call in orders at their delivery screens, pretty normal. He hung the phone up and not sure if he was having some sort of medical emergency or strung out on Indiana’s finest methamphetamine. It was fairly long lived, whatever it was, as he laid his head against the soap dispenser behind the counter with his eyes closed until the phone rang and he turned to lay down against the small countertop by the phones again when it rang. I was excited to see this new sub shop open in my town of Shelbyville.

I have eaten here several times, usually always get the Gargantuan without onions, and so far its always been made correctly and quickly, both dining inside and using drive thru window. The window order takers are fun and friendly. The subs are a bit pricey but taste great and are good sized.

I deducted a star due to being told that Jimmy John's freaky fast delivery, does not include my house in town. This was very saddening and confusing to me as I live within a couple street of the downtown circle near CVS, and EVERY pizza and other food / restaurant delivery place in town brings food to my house all the time. Even ordering over $20 and offering a $5 tip couldn't get them to deliver to me.

Jimmy John's employee told me they do not delivery past approx 1 mile from the store. No wonder they're freaky fast with delivery, they refuse to go over 1 mile from the store, geesh, and Poof, there went all my excitement about having Jimmy John's in my town, as my town is too small for a 2nd franchise to open to cover the other 1 mile radius in town.

Hard to believe they wont delivery to all the customers houses and businesses in town, O' well, 25 other places in town will deliver and get the business then.

Besides the failure to deliver, the food and service are good. The brand new store looks very clean and new,...

I can't get enough of this place. I order from here atleast 3 times a week. Service is fast, affordable, convenient and most importantly, the sandwiches taste amazing. I appreciate all who work at the Shelbyville IN location. It's not easy working in the fast food industry like most of society believes. These employee's work hard for little pay. Some work even harder when others decide not to show for their shift. This place is so busy, they run out of food often. Goes to show how many sandwiches these employees make fresh. I know that can't be easy. It's exhausting and these young adults, kids work their butts off for us customers with little to show for it. These employees deserve alot more compensation/ better pay rate than what they recieve. If I had the ability I would give it to them and wish I could.
