The summary? It’s bad.
We got our food (4 meals) and 1 was made incorrectly, and 1 was just gross. We set the plates to the side to send back, but our waitress just passed by us until the end of the meal when she just asked if we wanted anything else. I told her my meal could go back because it was bad, and she immediately got an attitude asking “what’s wrong with it?” Where do I start? It looked and tasted like legitimate cat food, the home fries were unseasoned and barely cooked, and the eggs were watery. She asked if I wanted something else and when I said no she walked away before another person I’m our party could send their meal back, which was made incorrectly. She never came back by our table, and instead waved toward the front from a few tables away saying we could pay there. We get to the front and the hostess says the total bill amount, and it seemed high. I asked what we were charged for, and she said “your food.” I asked specifically, stating that we sent one meal back and another was made completely incorrectly and left uneaten on the table. The hostess confirmed with the waitress that it was made wrong, and rolled her eyes as she took it off the bill and gave me a new total. I again asked what exactly I was being charged for, because the total still seemed high (and no receipt was ever provided at this time). She said I was being charged for the 3 meals made correctly, even though one had been sent back. I had to argue with her to remove it, which is absolutely ridiculous to me. I’ve only ever complained about 2 meals from restaurants, and both were extremely apologetic and quick to resolve the issue - so I was SHOCKED that I had to argue with her to not pay for the meals that weren’t edible. By the time she finally agreed to remove the inedible meals, she tossed the receipt at me, called me a name, and walked away.
Based on other reviews, our experience is not uncommon. I’m not sure how they have a decent rating - maybe paying for reviews? That could be where the payment for bad meals goes...
Read moreHeard a lot of good things about the food here so we came to try it out. When we sat down and the waitress approached there was no greeting, just a "What can I get for you?". Afterwards the breakfast sandwich came out with the wrong cheese which the waitress seemed very annoyed to fix and gave no apology whatsoever, but she did have it remade. The remake then came out with sausage instead of the bacon that had been asked for. Plate sat on the side of the table for quite a while, obviously not being touched but she didn't come check on us. We eventually asked the bus boy to take it back and ask the waitress to remove it from the bill. Another waitress came out to ask what was wrong with it after the bus boy took it back and rolled her eyes and walked away when we told her it had the wrong meat this time. The eggs Benedict that was ordered along with the sandwich was alright but the service was so poor, and I have noticed I am not the first to review about poor, snippy, and rude service. She still got tipped 20% on the bill after the sandwich was removed because stiffing her would only work to perpetuate her poor attitude today and in the future. As someone who has spent the last 11 years working in food service (serving and cooking) I can safely say that I would never give this kind of attitude and service to any customer.
The bus boy did a great job, he kept himself busy clearing tables and cashing out customers the whole time.
I will say that the coffee was good, nice and strong though we did have to pull the waitress aside (before the sandwich debacle) for refills.
This kind of service and problems bringing out the correct order are something I've never experienced at Blondie's, right down the street. If you're looking for good food and good service, I suggest you go to...
Read moreWe called ahead for a busload of high school girls coming from a swim meet at Shelton HS. They set us up in a separate room from the main dining area, much appreciated as the girls can get a little noisy sharing their recent meet. Everything was ready on time, places set, water out...the girls felt honored and important. Ordering was easy from a menu that has something for every taste and need, and no complaints about separate checks. Food arrived in a reasonable time, and all seemed to like what they had ordered. I got the tuna melt, and surprisingly to me, for a small cafe, one of the best I have ever had, and plenty ample for me. I think they used a different cheese than I usually get and very mild seasoning that really helped this otherwise slightly bland option. When I asked the girls later, they all liked their food, felt the portions were good, no one left hungry. Maybe the only drawback they mentioned was no milkshakes, but with ice cream available for dessert, that seemed a small concern, easily forgotten. Anyone who can satisfy about 20 high school girls is doing pretty well and we will look forward to returning again when we are in the area. Since I only 4-starred the atmosphere...actually fine, friendly, non-obtrusive, allowed us to focus on our team and accomplishments. Building is older, decor might be described as older, local western hotel getting ready for renovations...but we were there for food, not architecture. I will mention that parking in this downtown area was a little difficult for our bus, but this is likely to...
