From Yola — Restaurant in Shelton

Wow!! Just, wow... this little town has been anticipating the opening of this restaurant for months, and it does NOT disappoint. I finally got to try it yesterday.

I was a little surprised by much of the menu being frozen, but after one taste, I'm sold. The rice... omg even just the rice is SO good.

Josef offered me a taste of his picky child's favorite from the menu, vermicelli rice, while I waited. He said it's the one thing she'll always eat. It was delicious. Then he put a sample of the raisin yellow rice in front of me.

Raisins aren't my favorite... but the incredible fragrance of this rice brought be right back to my India days... American food just doesn't have this aromatic depth. The generous sample was all in my belly within moments... SO delicious. Just rice, raisins, and middle-Eastern seasonings... absolute heaven. I'm ordering some today. And I'll probably stock my freezer with it on payday!

Now to what I actually ordered... a shwarma wrap, baba ganoush, and falafal bag (6 falafels with tahini sauce). The wrap and dip were fresh. The falafels, frozen. All delicious. You'd never know the falafel had been frozen. A quick microwave, and they were perfectly crispy outside, soft inside, and delicious, and the tahini sauce the perfect compliment. I could have used more sauce on the wrap, but I think they were running low. I'm not sure they realized how much this town needed and wanted them! That'll all work out. The baba ganoush was out of this world... best I've ever had.

I am THRILLED about From Yola, and will be a frequent patron. Fresh or frozen, this food tastes fresh, clean, authentic, and wonderful. Thank you for bringing authentic Lebanese cuisine to Shelton....

A friend and I visited today - their soft open. It was busy and their stove malfunctioned, but they still rose to the occasion. Their customer service was attentive and accommodating and both dishes were ordered were truly delicious. We were even comped two kinds traditional desserts. We came on opening day and plan to come back many more times- great fresh food and good vibes! It’s so nice to have food options like this in our small town- we would definitely recommend!

Side note- our very picky toddlers split a falafel sandwich with fries and ate...
