First review ever, I never felt the need before this horrible experience. Do not go to the Easter Buffet at Shoreview, MN Green Mill. It was a waste of money. For a table of 13 they served us our second drink and then were telling us our time was up and had to leave without finishing the drink. My brother in-law said don't we have till 1 pm. They said no. They handed us the bill. The host was standing behind my brother in-law rolled up her jean jacket looked at her watch, held a wash cloth up in the air, was loud and dramatic enough so everyone at the table turned and looked at her. My brother in-law was trying to figure out a bill that came to over $700.00 with a tip. The management could not find my charge when I called later that day because we had two separate receipts with our credit card number on it and the same dollar amount on it. We were told when we made the reservation that we would get a military discount. Didn't happen. We request the bill to be adjusted. We got eye rolls from the host, stomping off and drama. The head manager the day of said the host/ manager for a day was stressed. She should not be the front of your business. No apologies from the head manager for the day. Called the next day. The host never adjusted our bill or charged us twice and we had to look up our bank statements. She never did the military discount just handed me the same receipt twice thinking we wouldn't look at it. Called back the next day. Talked to the head manager. He said no military discount on the buffet. The website does say Military do get discounts at all times. We should not be embarrassed to ask for this when you have several members of our families at the brunch that served in the military. I included a screen shot of the Green Mill website that advertises 10 percent off for people that served in the military whenever they dine. And the head manager did say at the end of the conversation he would give me give me 10 percent off one meal. The food was not at serving temperature on the buffet. Items were empty on the buffet. Items that were listed on the website were not on the buffet two that standout that were missing were Mac n cheese and cheese pizza. Disappointed for kids and vegetarians. The eggs were rubbery with runny watery parts. The pasta didn't not appear or taste fresh. It was mushy and tasted like it came premade from a food service and was poured out of a tub. The green beans were hard and not fully cooked. The tater tots were dry and cold. Appeared like at some point heated and left to sit on a counter. The prime rib was full of fat and hard for guests to find edible meat. My niece said next year at your house. My daughter was talking about the host rolling her eyes at my brother in-law when we walked out and got dirty looks from the host. So you have to wait in line at a host stand when you arrive. They were having difficulty finding reservations. It was unclear if the reservations were with a phone number or name, guests ahead of us in line didn't know who made the reservation so they were going through trying to find more then one name phone number. Not very organized at the front of the business. Everything was written down. They were having a hard time reading the writing. Nothing seemed to be...
Read moreI was super disappointed with the service me and my family received this past week. My husband has been working I the cities and we have on occasion joined him for the week. He stays at the hotel attached/adjacent to the restaurant so we have spent quite a bit of money at this establishment. And I haven’t had terrible service like I did on Monday.
We were down for our daughters birthday and placed roomed service over the phone. I went through my order with a lady who said she was new and apologized several times throughout our call about needing to ask someone and double checking making sure she was getting everything. We went went through our order multiple times and she read back my order in full twice to me. With me and my husband we also have five children so ordering does take a bit and I do have to go through it often; sometimes just for my own sake.
When we received our order 45-1 hour later they went to the wrong room and had to call us back to see what room we were in because it was written down wrong. (This should’ve been the first sign we’d have issues.) We were missing one of the two chicken sandwiches, a side of fries and dipping sauces. So, we immediately calmed down and explained what happened. The lady was very nice but didn’t apologize for the mixup but assured she’d make sure that got up there in about 15 minutes and let my manager know. I said thanks.
A few minutes later the manager called and you would think that he would apologize for the inconvenience but he said that we did not pay for those and read my entire receipt to me... I explained that it was on the order when I placed it and in fact the lady read it back to me twice. I explained I know what I ordered as I have five kids and that we were also missing miscellaneous items. As well as me and the lady spent extra time on these two sandwiches because they were a little different from the menu item (ie chicken no buffalo sauce fries only lettuce and mayo and again she didn’t have mashed potatoes) I explained I had no problem paying the 13$ but I knew that the lady had gone through it with me. He did not apologize and said “well it’ll be up.” And hung up.
So not only was I irritated with the entire thing already, because we spent just under 100$ on our meal and we were getting treated this way about a sandwich, some sweet potato fries and sauces to our wings. When they sent up what was supposed to be the rest of our order we still got the wrong items and missing sauces! It was not even worth our time to call again for such piss poor service.
We will not ever be eating at this place again which is a shame because it’s so convenient for my husband and family when...
Read moreI want to preface this review by saying I overheard that they were down one server this evening. I worked in restaurants for years, and I know how terrible that can be for the entire staff. But I have to be honest because normally the service and food is so great here. Came in at 4:45 p.m. thinking we would beat the crowd. Whoa, were we wrong. They were slammed. We were sat in a section that also had a party of probably 25 people and many other tables. I prayed we had an experienced server that could handle it. Server was nice enough. We ordered mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. These things are usually amazing; piping hot and fresh. The ones we got were cold. I decided to just take them home and heat them in the microwave later instead despite the fact that I was ravenous. I can't eat cold food. I thought about asking them to be warmed but was afraid if I did, we would be in for a hell of a wait. I'm currently not drinking alcohol so I ordered a mocktail that was orange juiced-based. Took about 15-20 minutes to arrive. It tasted terrible, like the orange juice they used was possibly expired. Very bitter. Also Green Mill is terrible about never putting the garnishes pictured or described on the drink menu in their drinks for some reason. I let the server know and she took it off the bill. We ordered a coconut chicken salad and chicken marsala as entrees, requesting the marsala be wrapped up to-go. 50 minutes later our food finally arrived. The problem: both entrees were wrapped to go. At this point I was almost faint from hunger, and decided to just get the check. Over nearly an hour and 15 minutes seated at a restaurant I had had two mozzarella sticks and a glass of water. Because I didn't want to be totally heartless, I tipped 15%. Honestly though I shouldn't have. The server didn't really check on us at all and was mainly focused on that gigantic party of 25. We also didn't even dine-in to eat our entrees. I paid a $9 tip to drink a glass of water and eat two cold mozzarella sticks. I understood they were short on a Friday, but it was insane after a $70 bill I left more starving than I was when I got there. Super...
