Worst experience ever with Javier! About 10 days ago my husband received a credit for 3 sandwiches that were poorly made customer service was polite that day. We went to get our sandwiches today, 6/22/23. When we asked Javier to fulfill the credit he said that our sandwiches were not made wrong and we already got them. There was a ticket on the wall with his name, number and the date (and some credits for others). He then proceeded to say the bread was large so that's why we had so little meat. He made a sample sandwich, then said he could not make our sandwiches because he needed to call the owner. He picked up the phone then said he couldn't reach the owner and again said he wouldn't make the sandwiches because our credi was not approved. At this point we are outraged and angry. We asked for a manager. My husband was told to lower his voice. At this point he was angry but not loud enough to draw attention from anyone other than those standing within conversational distance. Javierthe threatened to call the police if we didnt leave!! We refused said that he could call if he wanted since we didn't do anything wrong. He called the manager again hung up the phone more angry and said in a huff that he would just make our sandwiches even though they were made right the first time (he was not there the first time). We told him we would make a formal complaint. He then said my husband had called him names and it was on camera. We had not called him names or anything else threatening. We just asked for our credit that was hanging on the wall. We still have our $70 receipt for food from that initial day. This whole experience today felt racially motivated or flat out racist with this Javier weaponizing the police as that comment was directed at a black male. I felt embarrassed, harassed and singled out as if we were basically told we were lying or trying to get something for free. I have never done that we are an educated hard working family with jobs and a business of our own. This was one of the most insulting...
Read moreA friend of mine recently recommended going to Benji's for breakfast as he had been there a few times prior, and had nothing but good things to say about it. Since I love breakfast food, it sounded like something I had to try out.
We made it down there this past Saturday and ordered the Denver Omelette as well as the Super Hopple Popple, with a side of corn beef hash.
The order was for carry out, so we went and picked up out food and took it home. Upon beginning to indulge into the highly anticipated breakfast, we began finding some shortfalls that will not have me returning in the future.
It took me a couple bites of my omelette to realize that it had no cheese on it. I've never enjoyed an omelette without cheese on it, and the Denver was absolutely terribly bland without it. I mention something to my friend only for him to realize the Super Hopple Popple had no cheese on it either, leaving it not so super. On top of that, he requested it be made with egg whites which was confirmed it would be done from the person we had spoken with over the phone. Upon further review no egg whites.
On top of the main courses being botched, the corn beef hash we were supposed to get turned out to be just 3 tiny strips of corn beef which was way over priced, as was pretty much everything else we ordered. I thought the cookies looked good for dessert, so I ordered 4 of them at about $2.00 a piece. I was not impressed with the taste, as well as the not so fresh, but rather hard and crunchy texture. I also did not think highly of the hash browns either. I would say George Webb's hash browns would beat Benji's 10 out of 10 times, as well as the Denver omelette from George's.
My recommendation: Do not waste your money on such an over priced and underwhelming breakfast. You are way better off giving your business to George Webbs, Ma Fischers, Comet Cafe, Zak's Cafe, Harry's Bar & Grill, and my personal favorite,...
Read moreI was very excited to try Benji's deli with my partner as neither of us had been there before and we are always on the lookout for a nice place to grab a quick bite. Unfortunately this did not live up to even the most basic of expectations. We ordered two chicken salad sandwiches, side of potato salad, and a slice of carrot cake which came out to about $25. The chicken salad was completely bland and the bread was very dry. The sandwich was also lacking a basic textural component. The potato salad, you guessed it, zero flavor with rather underdone crunchy potato chunks. The carrot cake was completely inedible as it was flavorless and mushy. We got out food to go and sadly this was done poorly too, the pickles were badly wrapped in aluminum foil which leaked all over the paper bag holding all the food ultimately causing the bottom to fall out of the bag. Fortunately we were setting the bag onto our kitchen counter so it was not as bad as it could have been. Worst of all however was when my partner bit into her sandwich only to find that a wooden sandwich skewer had been laid sideways inside the sandwich! This is dangerous and she is very lucky that she didn't break a tooth or something. Don't waste your time...
