This was not my first time visiting here, but I will give you some insight. Overall, this place is a different experience from most dining joints. You have to pay for parking but I went with a friend at lower peak hours and found a spot not far from the entrance. When you walk in, you are greeted by the smell of fresh popcorn. The lower level offers 2 to 3 movies in a theater where you can watch a movie and order the restaurant 's food. I think that's a great concept, but the movies are not blockbusters. They may be hidden jems depending on your taste in theater. If you are not there for the movies, you walk briefly to the elevator and go to the second floor to emerge at the restaurant. As the doors open, you wait for the hostesses to seat you. We were taken care of by Tiffany, who played a duel role at the time of also waiter, and she was awesome. We were quite famished at the time and ordered the nachos and chicken jerk egg rolls as appetizers along with two bowels of gumbo as entrées. Nachos with beef were exquisite and definitely a new sensation to the taste buds. Don't expect a lot of cheese, but I appreciated a higher level of quality of chesse that you do not get the opportunity to consume daily. Please dont run away from the onions as they will give you a bite that sparkles. Trust me. The nachos were light and freshly prepared with a score of 8.9. Next up were the chicken jerk egg rolls. What a delight, I must say. Honestly, it's not even that I thought about the mix of flavors, but more so, the buttery taste mixed with the accompanied dip was outstanding. It also was plated nicely. 9.1 score. Next up was the chicken and sausage gumbo. I personally loved the dark roux, but it might be an acquired taste for some as a darker rue tastes a tad bit more bitter. In the past, their gumbo came with buttered bread. This added to the previous experience, but we did not receive any today. I was okay with that, and I will not knock them for the lack of bread. Gumbo was awesome to me, but my friend is from down south Louisiana and prefers a lighter rue. That being said she finished the bowel. Gumbo score 8.8. The chef was in the building and checked on us to make sure we were having a great experience, which was awesome. My dining partner mentioned it was her birthday, and the chef insisted that she was given a complimentary small bottle of champagne, which made her day. On a side note, seating is available outside to look two stories over downtown while you dine.

Update 12.5,2023 HELP! What has happened to our favorite bistro? Over the years we have enjoyed Abby Singers on so many nights! Last night we arrived about 5:00 for our reservation for a birthday and discovered that the menu is changed and apparently the service and Cooks have also changed. Don't misunderstand, we love Abby but something or someone has messed up the flow. Below you see our recollections Reservations - Well done! We arrived on time and were seated promptly. Wait staff - apparently all new, we've been often and this wasn't the level of trained and informed service a person expects at Abby. Our waitress was very nice and tried but it was obvious she wasn't seasoned. Of course we won't hold that against her and would love to have her as her server again. Drinks - Was there even a bartender? The cocktails we ordered are common and should be known by virtually any bartender. They've been a Hallmark of cocktails so getting what really amounted to cheap whiskey on ice isn't excusable in lieu for an old fashioned. Strangely enough we had the same cocktails here just a month ago and had some of the best old fashioned we had ever enjoyed. Speaking of, the bartender who served us that time was nowhere to be seen. But they could have done a better job just by looking it up on the phone. Food - NEW MENU ALERT - THERE ARE BIG CHANGES. Mostly with less choices and higher prices ( you will notice the change) We had the duck nachos for an appetizer and they were great as usual. My companion ordered the avocado turkey club sandwich with sweet potato fries. It arrived with no avocado and slim toppings. Really? For $15? She had a much superior sandwich for $9 at a sandwich shop in Haughton last week. No excuse on a slow night to be out of avocado. They did bring us a side of sweet potato fries after we mentioned it and they were good. Desert - What dessert? The only choice for on their new menu is charro's filled with either ice cream or cream I can't recall. Gone are the excellent desert choices from the past. Atmosphere - Same building and neat deco but... When we arrived to two or three people, one dressed like a Cook, sitting outside of the store on the sidewalk smoking. Upstairs there was a obvious employee hanging out in the dining area talking with some of the wait staff about waiting on someone to meet him. The kitchen door was standing open and the cook staff was playing a radio loud enough that you could hear it all over the back of the restaurant. There was no ambient music playing in the restaurant at all. Overall, you can't compete with a less than excellent product, service, and atmosphere while raising prices. Also, apparently happy hour is gone. Update 3.16.2022 Even with the manpower shortage is going on across the country right now Tootie and her staff maintain the excellence you expect from this bistro! Once again we ate on the patio which was lovely, I had the always amazing shrimp and grits while my sweetheart had the Ahi Poke bowl which includes sushi quality tuna and a healthy serving of jumbo crab. You couldn't go wrong with either one. Special thanks to Taylor Green for taking such great care of us even though the restaurant was short staff. Still one of our top favorite places to dine in Shreveport Bossier! Update 2/22/23 Dinner and drinks on the veranda overlooking Texas St. As we've come to expect the service was excellent, the drinks were great and the food wonderful. We started with the cheese board, my wife's favorite! A delicious selection of prosciutto, salami, cheeses, and fruits. Definitely did not disappoint. Then for dinner we each had their Walnut spinach salad with vinaigrette and a cup of seafood gumbo. Lump crab, crab claws, and shrimp made it special. Yummy! Still one of our favs on a lovely evening!

I am a longtime fan of Abby Singer's, the restaurant found on the third floor of the Robinson Film Center which is Shreveport's only independent movie theater. I will be submitting a review of that separately. I've always enjoyed Abby Singer's, but its recent remodel and hiring of Chef Niema DiGrazia have elevated it to a whole new level! It's very comfortable. I especially like the new bar area which is where I prefer to sit when dining solo. Nick and Tiffiny, the bartenders, are excellent and creative drink mixers. Now, about the food. It's outstanding. If you're in search of bland, boring food, this is not the place for you! Chef Niema is from the African country of Sierra Leone, and her food's flavor profiles show a strong Afro-Caribbean influence. I can honestly say that I have never tried anything that I wouldn't order again: appetizers, soups ( sorry Lafayette Foodies, I would put her gumbo up against any I had there on my recent trip), entrees, desserts. If oxtails are available when you go, do yourself a favor and order them! BTW, Chef Niema recently appeared on an episode of Food Network's Beat Bobby Flay, and she won!!!

Where do I begin, been wanting to try this place for awhile. Only heard great things about it. We started off with the duck nachos which I was skeptical about. Totally worth every penny. The flavor is amazing. Will definitely be getting them again. Then I got Cajun pasta for dinner. Huge portions and great dish. We also got the lemon basil chicken. Omg. I wouldn’t be surprised if I found out they put drugs in it. Hands down the best chicken I’ve ever had. I can’t describe it in words. Everyone needs to try the chicken once in their life. Larry (the chef) definitely knows what he’s doing. Great service from our waitress heather. Great atmosphere. Will definitely be back soon. Highly recommend.
