Lakeside Bar & Grille — Restaurant in Shrewsbury

Food was great and prices are unbeatable. The service however horrendous. From the moment we walked in, our waitress made it seem like it was an inconvenience we were seated in here section(the place is packed so it’s not like there were other options) she was slow to check on us, and would just walk past us like we weren’t even there. Then after our plates were taken(she wasn’t even the one who took them), we waited 10-15 mins for the check while we watched her sit in the back of the restaurant and chat with coworkers. My girlfriend says she locked eyes with her at least a few times in this wait. And remember, our plates are gone and are drinks are empty, and she was the farthest thing from busy. Then she continued to walk by us again to help another table, and went to walk by us again until I asked for the check. She finally came with the check and I gave my card right away and she went to walk away so before she could, I told her we were all set and she could take the check with my card. She came back, we paid, and as we went to get up to leave, my back was turned to the back of the restaurant and honestly I should have looked, but it’s a tight/small restaurant so I was just looking to get out of there and get to the car. As I got out of my seat and into the walkway, she knocks into me and keeps walking. Mind you I wasn’t the one who could see this collision coming, she was. She didn’t even apologize and just continued to go to the table she wanted to help. Aside from the abysmal service, the food was good and I’d love to go back without her as my server. We didn’t get her name but she was a taller black girl. I hope none of the other servers...

It is always interesting to find a restaurant that is popular among the locals. That should mean good food at good price, or at least I think that is the secret recipe for local’s choice. We heard this is one of those spot, so we went to check it out.

It is a local sports bar, and while we were there, people of all ages kept coming in and out. The inside is not so big, a bit smaller than I expected. It has a long bar counter seating from the entrance to the back, and high table seating throughout the space. They had several TVs on the walls for the sports fans.

We went there for lunch, and we were pretty hungry. So, we decided to share an appetizer first. We had no idea what we were getting into at this point… We ordered Quinsigamond Platter, which was HUGE!!! It was too much for the three of us, especially since we all ordered individual lunch item on top of that. We had Fish Sandwich, Meatball & Sausage Combo Sandwich, and The Brenna Salad. Each one was crazy big portion, and at very affordable price. No wonder they are one of the very popular spots among the locals...

We took home maybe half the food, as it was just way too much for the three of us. The generous portion of everything is just unbelievable. It was a nice lunch, we were completely stuffed, needed a good nap afterwords. The service was ok, friendly and casual. The atmosphere is comfortable, no-frill, and laid back. This was definitely one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had... I was there a few nights ago with my family and it was very busy. I understand that covid regulations are aggravating but this place wasn’t following any of it. Every single table was filled which made for a very uncomfortable atmosphere. Many of the tables were customers just sitting and mingling after they’ve already eaten and paid while there was a line of people waiting to get in and the wait staff didn’t say a word to them. Our waitress was very rude and inattentive. My dad ordered a prime rib meal and they only delivered his meat. He waited 15 mins for the rest of his food until he finally said something to the waitress and she didn’t even apologize just said “oh ok” and walked away. It was soooo cold in there too which was miserable ... Food was ok but small portions. All around extremely unenjoyable experience. I won’t be...
