We visited Burtons Grill & Bar for the first time today and had lunch while our dog was getting X-Rays at Tuft’s to see how her surgery recovery progress was going. The dining room was pretty empty, so I was a slightly disappointed the hostess seated my wife and I in the booth next to a booth of a table of four. With that said, I was glad to be in a booth instead of a table in the middle of the dining room. Also, the table next to us could not be heard during our entire meal. I am impressed at the privacy we experienced although being near this party of four. My wife ordered a daily special of the Reuben Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries. I helped her with a couple of her fries - delicious! She loved her sandwich and could only eat half. She asked for a box to take the other half home. I ordered the Crispy Fish Sandwich (fried haddock, pickled red onions, pickles, tartar sauce, and brioche bun) with regular fries. My crispy fish breading was lighter and drier than I expected based on past fried haddock sandwiches. It felt like I had eaten a healthier for me fried fish sandwich, which did leave me wanting a little more tarter sauce. Some of my tarter sauce had somehow slid on to my plate from the bun, but I was able to swoosh my fish against it. Most importantly to me, the fish sandwich arrived piping hot so I knew it was delivered to the table as soon as it was ready. I also enjoyed my fries. Fortunately my wife gave me her ketchup. One thing I do not like is being served a small ketchup serving like today. The server was prompt and attentive with our needs at every step of our service. We will be back to try more of the menu soon based on our very...
Read moreAtmosphere was relaxed yet kind of fancy which was nice. There's a nice big bar and plenty of TVs if you want to just have a few drinks and watch a game. The hostess greeted us and explained that their meals are catered to each customer and asked if we needed any gluten-free menus. The waitress also informed us of how they cook and asked us if we had any food allergies. The menu is like an upscaled pub menu with burgers, sandwiches and salads but also offers expensive cuts of beef and seafood plates. I ordered the short rib grilled cheese. It was sweet and savory thanks to the maple siracha which thankfully wasn't too maple-y. It came served on griddled chibata bread and had plenty of cheese. I added a side of sweet potato fries for $.95 and they were delicious! Nice and crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. The only thing I would change about my meal is the way the short rib was in the sandwich. I would suggest to shred the short rib to make the bite easier. The meat was as tender as you can make short ribs but as people who eat short ribs know, if you're biting into a chunk of it, it's not the easiest to chew, especially chewing against the grain. Other than that, it was good. For my girlfriend and I it was $40 for the 2 sandwiches we had. The sever was friendly and attentive and we didn't wait long at all. I would recommend anyone to...
Read moreSo mixed about this place. Based on our experience and reading other reviews, the front of the house not good, the back of the house amazing.
We were visiting the area for a soccer tournament. We called ahead to see if they could accommodate a party of 10-12. When we got there we were a party of 16. The hostess was great and sat us pretty quickly even with the bigger number. It is a fairly large establishment, we were there on a Saturday night about 7:30. There were plenty of empty tables. I had expected it to be packed, but it was fairly quiet. Point being, it should never have taken 45 minutes later after being seated before a drink arrived to the table. Our waitress was not friendly. She seemed annoyed that she had to wait on us. She was not attentive to the party at all. Considering the lack of business at the time, I would think she would have welcomed the large tip she could have made. Now here’s where I’m mixed. The food was excellent. It came out hot and very fresh. Presentation was fantastic and everyone enjoyed their meals. Then the bills came and it goes bad again. $14 for a Stella. $25 for a captain and sprite with a crown and coke. As good as the food was, I don’t think I would go back if we return to the area. Based on the other reviews, someone better clean up the front of the house and lower your...
