Pizza World — Restaurant in Shrewsbury

Was wayyyyyyy better the second time I tried it! 4 stars, may upgrade to 5 later. Posting that good stuff first, since some people don't like to read all the way and Im gonna start the next part on a slightly negative note.

When I moved to Shrewsbury a little over a year ago, this was one of the first local places I tried since it was right up the street. I dont remember exactly when I got around to it, maybe a month or 3 in. And it was just....not that good. Like, the low tier of mediocre. Kinda floppy, kinda soggy (even after selecting Well-Done as an option), cheese looked weird, not much flavor to it. Not TERRIBLE, just like I could spend a buck or two more and get the consistently middle tier of mediocre that is dominos or something. And I didnt try it again after that for a long long while. Recently, though, they sent me a mailer to my house with a pretty decent deal, 30% off on any online order. Being the broke h** I am, I figured a 30% off and already decently priced bad pizza was worth more at the moment than full-priced decent/good pizza. Very glad I gave them a second chance, and that they were nice enough to send a deal! It was way way better the second time around. Much more flavorful, toppings were good, it was good.

Actually looking forward to giving them a 3rd try now, to see which is more typical of them. As I lounged on my couch, playing a risky game of "will my phone land on my face," a sudden noise jolted me to my feet – or at least as quickly as someone past their 20s can manage. Ready to fight off the intruder attempting to break in, I braced myself as the door creaked open, revealing a sight so stunning it took my breath away.

I stood there, completely awestruck at the beauty standing in the doorway, until a familiar voice yelled, "will you stop just standing there looking like an idiot and come help me" and so I was off relieving the other occupant of the apartment from the beautiful burden of pizza. And let me tell you, I am a pizza enthusiast through and through. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, midnight snack – you name it, I'll eat it. So when I laid eyes on those three boxes from a place I surprisingly had never heard of before, Pizza World, I was beyond excited.

We dug in, sampling the Chicken Bacon Ranch, Taste of Chicago, and Cheesy Bread pizzas, and let me tell you – they did not disappoint. The crispy bacon, creamy Ricotta, and perfectly cooked crust had me hooked from the first bite. I was very disappointed with Pizza World - Shrewsbury, MO. When I arrived to pick up my pizza, they could not find my pizza. I overheard the manager talking to an employee - "We don't have his X Large pizza, one of the drivers must have taken it by mistake." The counter man never explained what happened, he just said my order would be ready in 10 minutes. After waiting for 20 minutes, the employee then brought me a pizza, but it was not an X Large. He said all I have is a Large. Then, after asking them to comp my pizza, the manager returned and pretended to remove it from my bill. Later, I checked my credit card and found out he did not credit my card. So, not only did they screw up my order, but they lied to me about not charging me for the pizza. I would not recommend going to Pizza World in Shrewsbury, MO. Poor service and a manager that lies to his customers.
