I have to be honest. We've driven past this place for years and have never dined here. The restaurants exterior appearance is very poor.
The restaurant was formerly a Chinese restaurant. We used to eat there quite regularly. But, the last time we ate there when it was the Chinese restaurant I literally watched roaches crawling up the wall in the dining area. So, we stopped going there.
So, when it became the Italian restaurant that it is now and it looked so terrible on the outside. I just couldn't go in. ..
That was until yesterday! My husband suggested that we give it a try. I thought, ok here goes money in the trash.
The waitress was very understanding with my direct questions. I asked if they made their own sauce. She explained that all sauces are made from scratch. I expressed to her my concerns about eating there. She was very gracious and assured me that I would be pleased.
The overall appearance of the interior had not changed much from it previous Chinese look. It was very dated and worn. They've tried to freshen it up with some very distinct paint choices. They've definitely spent some time cleaning. I could smell a light scent of bleach at our table. (Yeah!!!) I couldn't see into the kitchen, so I can't speak on the cleanliness in there. The restroom was clean though.
When we got our food I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the sampler plate with lasagna, manicotti and beef ravioli. It was great!! I'll definitely order it again. My husband ordered the shrimp scampi. He said that it was good, but he was disappointed that it only came with 5 shrimp on it. I think it was $17 ..
Give them a try! It was overall a...
Read moreSo I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. Half of the experience was FANTASTIC, half was not great. The looks are terrible, old, grungy looks like the place is falling apart inside and out. Even if they just put a few bucks into paint and lighting and different decor, it would do a world of difference, and make me feel better about eating there. Let's talk about the bread and oil now...the bread is soft and delicious, the oil tasted old and not good. So I opted for butter which they already have on the table. It was a nasty yellow color like it was old as well, so I just dipped my bread in marinara. Now for the appetizer, we got the calamari. The marinara it came with, I could have drank it, it was that good. The calamari itself had some really delicious pieces and had some over done pieces or was way over breaded and the breading was a little hard, it was good, just could have been better prepared is all. Moving on to entrees which were AWESOME!! The food is why I will be back, they seriously know how to cook good italian food. Best Alfredo I have ever tasted also. I have had the chicken Alfredo pizza, the manicotti, and the stromboli. Absolutely delicious!!!! For dessert, we got tirimisu, it was good, not super great but good. The server was really sweet and very accommodating. I gave it four stars because the food is very good and I...
Read moreWow. This is easily in my top 10 Italian restaurants. Sadly many in my top 10 shut down due to being too expensive in low wage areas, but this place is legit.
Seafood combo was excellent. It’s not the best I’ve ever had, but probably the second best I’ve ever had. The spaghetti and meatballs was good, but interesting. The meatballs tasted smoked. It was really different and good. The Chicken Creamora mushroom pasta was amazing!! Very much like creamy mushroom risotto but pasta. The artichoke dip was also excellent.
I highly recommend this place. Plan on about ~$20/person. Nicer upscale dishes with steak are closer to $30.
For the quality it’s well worth the price.
Now for the cons. It wouldn’t be a fair review without giving some constructive feedback. The flavors are immaculate, rich, and heavy. Because of this, flavor fatigue can set in. It would be wise to devise a small side that breaks up the flavor monotony of the dish and acts as a pallet cleanser. Something fresh or a little acidic. Maybe some lemon zested roasted veggies? An example of this in Asian restaurants would be pickled ginger. It’s not necessary, but could enhance the experience allowing people to enjoy the food longer with...
