I'm hoping this review doesn't fall on deaf ears because should it the owner/operator is missing out on constructive criticism that honesty can help the overall customer experience. Without a doubt the food is delicious. So much so, every time I'm in the area from DC I make it a point to stop and get some. I try to overlook the long lines, terrible parking and slow wait times but today I'm almost certain this was my last visit. I decided to call in my order today as in the past I have endured several 30-45 minute wait times when ordering in person and or upon arrival being told there is no Brown Stew Chicken at this time. Unfortunately, after being told to hold, I did for 20 minutes and then was hung up on. I called back 4 times to get no answer and being told to leave a message at the tone. I finally decided to order via TOAST but of course, no matter how I place my order the option to order my order to my liking isn't an option. So I'm prepared to get something I don't even want. When I arrived, although I was told to hold, got hung up on and called back multiple times, the staff was joking around and siting at the counter on the computer and the restaurant was EMPTY!! The woman that greeted me swore that the restaurant was filled to capacity when I called, which was 10-15 minutes prior and that's why I was placed on hold. Nonetheless, she went to the receipt machine and found my receipt and started to make my meal. As I had anticipated, what I ordered versus what I wanted was wrong and of course I paid more...smh. Had someone picked up my many calls this could've been avoided. Of course, when she goes to prepare my food, it's the crusty left over pieces. Upon checking it was one drumstick and mounds of undercooked rice and peas. $13 for this trash! Honestly it was my fault because I should've taken being hung up on and the multiple no answers as a sign to spend my money elsewhere....
Read moreHad my first experience with this restaurant today and was hoping it would be a good one. The food was good, but the service was disappointing. Why is it that new restaurants don't think that good customer service is more important than the product? Why would you open a restaurant but don't staff it properly? When I walked in, the customers in front of me were getting out of line and leaving the restaurant. They all gave a big sigh and just left. I wasn't too surprised but was hoping I wouldn't have a bad experience, but that moment prepared me. This restaurant has the same set up as the multitude of the other restaurants in the area where the person behind the counter puts your food in a container, but yet this restaurant seem to not even take the time to create the same method where one staffer handles the meat, another handles the sides and identify the contents so that the cashier can charge the customer then moves on to the next customer. This restaurant seems to want to try to get away with one person handling the orders and handling the cash at the same time. Why?
I was stunned to see that this restaurant didn't even bother to have a method to follow to get the order out to satisfy the customer. Frustrated customers were coming back to collect the missing items. So, the customers are not happy, nor were your employees. This is a first for me to walk into a place where all the customers had sad faces, still waiting for their order. That signaled me to ask the guy was my order ready yet and yes, he had to package the sides when I asked them if the sides were in the bag.
The food is good, but I'd rather go to a restaurant where the service is just as good as...
Read moreThe food was good. Honestly it wasn't great but for the price really good. I won't go back because of the way the cook/part owner treatment towards his employee, who was a very pleasant young man with great customer service skills. There was a customer that was indecisive. The young man was very patient because she was an elderly woman. My niece and I were behind her and saw how patient he was with her. We had no problem waiting because he was being respectful of his elders which a lot of youth are not these days. The owner several times yelled at him because he felt he was taking too long. He continued to belittle him. Unintentional or not it was inappropriate. Another customer was so upset she wanted her money back. The owner originally told her she could keep the food and after a few words agreed to give her money back but then took the food 😂. I don't think he should of taken the food after he told her she could keep it. I hope this is a learning experience for the owner moving forward. It's a nice restaurant in a very nice location. I pray the owner will take this as an opportunity to appreciate his staff and be mindful of how he communicates with his employees. Even out of customers sight it was inappropriate in how he was talking to him. As a customer I appreciate the owner's intent I was however appalled in his delivery. The name of the restaurant is angry jerk, I hope it's not a description of the attitude of the owner. To the young man, you don't deserve that treatment from any employer. May God open doors for you and find work in an environment that...
