Edit 1/13/25: If you want cash back for a restaurant expense through your credit card, DO NOT order online through their website. Spice Street for whatever reason is not categorized as a restaurant when you place your order online (it’ll show up as retail). I did not receive my 5% cash back due to this and it’s extremely disappointing.
This place recently opened and we wanted to support local and check it out. We made a reservation to dine in and it was nice to see them seat different parties quite far apart and followed social distancing protocols.
We ordered two appetizers — the vegetarian samosa and chicken cafreal.
For the main entree we ordered the chicken biryani and tandoor chicken and also ordered a side of cheese/garlic naan.
Everything tasted good, but the biryani contained quite a few chunks of spices that you might want to take out before you dig in (full cloves and cardamom seeds — which aren’t pleasant to bite on and I wish they would’ve kept it out when serving). Though the menu says there are stuffed naans, we thought it’d be stuffed with cheese and garlic. The description on the menu was a bit misleading, the naan was topped (not stuffed) with cheese and garlic, which still tasted great.
Customer service was good, we had an older gentleman waiter and we asked him a lot of questions to clarify some dishes and we could tell there was a lot of communication barrier. He wasn’t able to describe or elaborate what certain dishes contained, so we ended up Googling...
Read moreAs someone with high standards for Indian and Punjabi food I very much appreciated Spice Street!
Food - the food was excellent. We ordered the eggplant chat which was perfectly crispy and the sauce didn’t make it soggy, the lasooni gobi which was wonderfully seasoned both the cauliflower filling and the sauce wasn’t too overwhelmingly garlicky, the chole bhatura, shahi paneer, garlic naan and lacha paratha. The chole bhatura and shahi paneer we ordered as medium spicy and it lived it. It was the perfect level of spice. Both were very flavorful. The bhatura was fried perfectly. The only comment I will make is that one piece of the garlic naan was a little undercooked and they weren’t able to accommodate adjustments including making a chili naan. We ordered rose Falooda for dessert which was wonderful; the ice cream base was like kulfi with nuts and was delicious. We had enough for 2 meals worth leftovers so ample serving size too. Well worth the price.
Staff - the staff was very attentive and refilled our water without being asked, they answered questions about the dishes and gave recommendations since it was our first time here.
Ambience - very cute, well kept, seating near the window is a plus!
Overall - would definitely come back! Perfect after a late day of work...
Read moreI'm so disappointed. My husband bought Indian food from Ghar-E-Kabab Saturday. We had the chicken biryani with raita. It was so good that I wanted it again for lunch today however they were closed. I chose Spice Street based on reviews and because Uber eats delivered. The chicken biryani was awful. It was heavily seasoned. The cloves and nutmeg was overwhelming. My husband bit into a whole clove! The raita was terrible. I tried adding sour cream to make it edible. There was no cucumber at all. I spent $86.00 and if anyone from the restaurant reads this post I would appreciate at least a partial refund(although a full refund is definitely in order).
*UPDATE * I would like to report that a couple of days after I left this review the owner contacted me directly! I was shocked. He apologized for my experience and assured me this was not the standard for his restaurant. He gave me a full refund and a $25 gift certificate in order to try another meal on him which I plan to do. I want to say thank you to Mr. Singh for reading my review and actually caring enough to address it. This is the best customer service I've...
