By far my favorite spot in Silver Spring.
Where do I start, the atmosphere? The beer selection? The Service? The (Happy Hour) specials? The absolutely awesome Sunday Trivia Night? Or maybe the best burgers I have ever had (not even exaggerating)?
I have come here for quite a while now, every time I visit Silver Spring, this is my immediate go-to.
The atmosphere is great, a typical tavern style (what's in a name) place, but surprisingly spacious with a large room in the back.
And that's where my favorite night of the week takes place: Sunday Night Trivia. The host is amazing, the questions are great and you can get $ off your tab of the evening if you do well, but there will be some serious competition. But even for less experienced trivia-enthusiasts (like me and my friends), it's still so much fun! Perfect Sunday: Start at 6PM to enjoy 30 minutes happy hour with great drinks and burgers (or anything else, but the burgers are amazing) and take your time until the trivia starts at 7PM and enjoy the rest of the evening with some drinks and the quiz, it's fantastic.
The service is so good, they are so welcoming, sharp, very friendly, just absolutely great, which adds to the whole experience.
They have a wide range of drinks, from rotating draft beers, bottled beers, whiskeys, wine, cocktails, everything you wish, they have it and a lot of specials with a great Happy Hour.
And then the food. Absolutely fantastic. I love burgers and I love good burgers. I had quite a good amount of burgers in my life and at a wide variety of places, but I can truly say that the burgers here are the best I have had anywhere. I always build my own burger, they have fresh and good meat, you can pick 2 cheeses, 2 sauces and 3 extra's (definitely always take the griddled onions!!), plus lettuce, tomato an onions if you wish and they make an absolute fantastic burger for you. Add some tots if you wish, or just go with the chips like I always do, since the burger is big and juicy.
All in all an absolute must-go to if you live in the area or happen...
Read moreMy goodness... this place was amazing. I've had their food for takeout before but never been inside. Firstly, when I arrived (my date was waiting for me) I felt kind of out of place. It's a basement place so it's daunting when you open the door you feel like the entire bar is looking at you. I didn't get time to process if I had made a good or bad decision because a shorter portly gentleman who was moving around swiftly, greeted me and gave me a calm welcoming greeting. After showing my vaccination cards I went to look for my date. T they have great beers and amazing bourbon and whiskey. Although my date didn't end up going well, I could have cared less because the ambience and the small batch bourbon (waitress picked which one) paired well with the bacon and cheese tots (crispy not soggy in the middle) I washed that down with the interestingly named lickhole creek. It was a Mexican chocolate stout. The clean finish on the stout leaves you wanting more of it. I didn't see a host, but that's a testament to the service and not a slight at their staff. For the volume that was there and the amount of tasks to be had it was experience. They have live music coming there soon and I look forward to doing a few reviews for those occasions.
lastly, Our waitress was attentive, helpful, hard working and attractive, (all of them are at this place) the burgers and tots are the go to items, but I need a few more visits and I'll update. I have to go bartop and experience that. This place warranted the long review. And I'll probably hit the...
Read moreTLDR; BEWARE. SCAMMER BARTENDER WILL CHARGE YOU MORE AND ADD TIPS WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT.
Edit 12/20/2022: No, it was NOT an authorization; your bar had already charged and taken money from my bank. I reported your business to the appropriate authorities. Some already seem to be aware of the scamming lol. Good luck with karma in the long run.
Original post: I went to a show recently and noticed today the bartender charged me more than DOUBLE of what I ordered.
On the day of the show, I told the bartender that she charged me $15 for a $10 beer and she gave me the most unprofessional attitude, saying "you get what you pay for", which was NOT what I ordered. I didn't leave a tip because she clearly didn't deserve it. She then had the AUDACITY to fraudulently charge me $25+ for my drink. So the only explanation is that she added a $15 tip to a $10 beer WITHOUT my signature or consent. I was going to let this go but this woman doesn't deserve to be a bartender if she can't tend to a bar or keep track with orders properly. If the bartender and/or business continues this kind of scammer behavior up, karma (and the law) will get...
