If this is too long, here's my quick review: The food is fabulous, the service we had was disappointing. I'd try it again, though, before giving a solid 👍🏻 or 👎🏻. Oh, and expect to wait for a bit if you have to use the restroom. We visited with a party of 7; 4 adults & 3 kids, at 1:00 on a Friday afternoon. The restaurant was not busy. There was a party of 25-30 outside and two or three other tables of 2-4 people. We were greeted promptly and the waitress was accommodating when we asked to sit at a large booth that was unoccupied. She quickly turned the table and reset it for us. I'll skip ahead and say that the food was superb. Top notch, fresh, delicious Italian. That's where our good experience ended. We ordered and then waited 45 minutes for our food to come. Our waitress did not come and check on us after taking our order. No updates on our food, no checking on our drinks, no explanation of something like "the pizzas you ordered will take a while to prepare." If we had been told from the get go that our food would take a while, then we'd be more understanding. I recognize that there was a large group, and we were a larger party ourselves, but 45 minutes with no service seems unacceptable. After our food came the waitress didn't come back to ask how the food was or if we needed anything. We had to flag her down to get our check. All things considered, this wasn't an ideal place to go with children. The wait for food was so long, and they quickly became restless. I'd try them again, without children, just to see if this experience was a fluke.

Maybe we came on a bad day, because we had a very disappointing experience. Maybe the staff was over-extended? The hostess looked mad and annoyed when she sat us. It took 15 minutes just to get our drinks. Our server seemed to have a very large amount of tables and didn't have much time to do a proper job. I got the Ravioli of the day which was lobster and shrimp. The ravioli was gummy, I did not taste any shrimp, and could only see maybe see a teaspoon of lobster (I think it was lobster??) in each ravioli. For a $44 plate of food it was extremely disappointing. It was plated nicely, but the best thing on my plate was the brussel sprouts. My kids didn't eat their kids meals so since I was still hungry I ate some of their kids meal chicken parm. I liked the kids meal better. The atmosphere was beautiful with flowering baskets next to the river. I don't blame the server for my experience, she tried to offer free dessert but by the end of the meal I wanted to just leave. We were not offered any other discounts. I didn't ask for one, but we did tell the server the food was disappointing. If you are going to charge fine dining prices, the food should be better than Olive Garden.

To whom it may concern, if anyone at all... I give this place a 2 only because of our waitress Emily, she was great and friendly. But I CAN'NOT! say the same about the bartend/ waiter Jay. I own and operate a Assisted Living Facility and today I took my clients to Sauce On The Blue after visiting and walking Dillon Lake. We wanted to sit down in a restaurant and have some Italian food instead of fastfood. Two of my clients were using a walker and the other a cane because of gait issues...we stood at the counter for ten minutes, it was 'Not' busy inside the restaurant but the patio had 3 tables with customers already sitting, so I didn't understand why we stood there that long especially with the bartender/ waiter constantly looking over at us. He finally came over and asked how many and where we wanted to be seated, we said the patio, he took the menus out to a table threw them down and walked away...no enjoy your dining, or the waitress will be with you shortly...just walked away. Now, I would like to say, that he was having a bad day, I say he, because he never introduced himself once but I later, like within 5 minutes learned his name because every table that came in after us and i mean "Every" , he came to those tables, introduced himself pleasantly said hello to them all, even the dog, one table brought in that sat at a table close by us. His name was Jay. Jay helped with every table, the drinks, delivered their orders and asked them to let them know if they needed anything, to let him know, even walked around to all the tables( except ours) to see if they needed anything, and to help the waitress Emily, but never once came over and acknowledged us at our table, just looked at us and walked away. I would not say anything about his actions if the place were full and extremely busy, but it wasn't and the only thing that made our eating experience there a little pleasant, was sweet Emily. My clients were so uncomfortable that they did not finish their food and asked for to go plates, which defeated their whole experience of sitting down and eating a great meal inside a nice restaurant. It was so unpleasant and even I could not enjoy my food because of their awareness of mistreatment. And I'd hate to say that the reason for such treatment, overlooking, and unwillingness to make us feel comfortable about dining there, was because, we were Black. Yes...the only Black people in the whole restaurant and we were more than pleasant, considerate, thanking Emily for her help, especially with the confusion with ordering because 2 of my clients has mild Dementia and the other has confusion with speech. Emily was patient and got all our orders and drinks. When we left Emily said goodbye and to have a nice day, we walked by Jay and he looked at us and said absolutely nothing, and that was also a huge conversation in the car home, which is in Aurora. What an awful, unpleasant experience to drive all that way to and made to feel that badly, disrespected and racially dismissed. I hope Emily does not have to share her tip with him, because he was just an awful person to experience. Best...

We went with a small group to sit on the patio to listen to favorite local musicians, Leon and Lisa Littlebird. The service was slow, but the bigger downside was what the server delivered. I ordered a Bloody Mary - it was a very pale watery faintly red drink with no flavor, my husband ordered his drink “ neat “ and it came with ice. Our appetizers were inedible - his a Gorgonzola beef which looked like it came out if the wrong end of the cow, mine an over cooked yellow soupy shrimp in a bowl with some wilted lettuce propped on the edge. Others at the table were equally appalled by what was put down . Pizza was OK but overpriced. I can’t understand the glowing reviews. I live in the area and this will be my last time at Sauce. Years ago it was OK. The last 3 visits convinced me never to return. If friends hadn’t been performing I never would have attempted another experience, but fool me once shame on you , fool me twice shame on me. Don’t waste time or money . The patio is pleasant but you can bring a sandwich and sit by the river without wasting a penny. The owner apologized after I posted the review and I appreciate an apology. When the waitress finally came back around and we told her about the appetizer being awful, she said "don't get upset" and I'll take it off the bill (she did). She did not apologize, offer to replace it with something else, or send the manager over to make it right. It's not my job as the customer to ask for a manager or to correct the inappropriate behavior of your servers. Teach them, the customer is always right, and have some quality control from the kitchen and bar. This wasn't my first encounter with a rather surely server at this establishment and slow service seems normal. You may serve a decent pizza, but its not enough. I have been long in this community and appreciate good restaurants- they are few and far between up here. I spoke with the others at my table (8 in all) and except for the pizza people there was a general feeling of - meh, not so good, but I was hungry. Many people will not complain on the moment, esp with friends at the table, since it tends to make everyone uneasy. The last time we were there we sat at the bar. My husband ordered the special- surf and turf with the steak requested medium rare and he even states the temp 145. The first steak came brown and dry, so we sent it back. They brought out another- 10 minutes later and it was lightly seared on the outside and raw and cold on the inside (an unpleasant statement from the kitchen). My husband got up and walked out. I paid for my dinner and left. I did call the manager over that time and showed him the new meat and a picture of the first delivery, he shrugged. That was suppose to be our last time, but with friends asking us to join them and Leon and Lisa playing we went-...

Typical Mountain restaurant. Been there too long, don’t look up at the sound panels on the ceiling - full of stains and dust, light fixtures are covered in dust too.

We got there early (4:00) for a 5:15 reservation. At the time of reservation we were told we’d have a 2 hour seating, which is understandable.

We ordered drink at the bar while waiting for our table. As we came up from Denver and were about an hour early. Waited 15 mins for drink orders to be filled and at that point the 2 of us were 50% of the people at the bar?

Sat at our table at 5:00 when the other couple arrived. (15 mins prior to our reservation) The hostess knocked over my wife’s full glass of wine while seating us. They cleaned up the mess and replaced the glass of wine on the house. Which was fine.

We waited over 10 mins for our waitress to show up and take drink orders for the couple that had joined us w/o drinks and another 10 mins for those to show up. We order an appetizer with the drinks. We were there over 40 mins before they took our dinner order.

Dinner arrived and one of the orders came as chicken pasta but was ordered as shrimp. The waitress suggested she could bring some shrimp and we could just pick out the chicken- really?

Took another 20 mins to get the correct shrimp pasta order. Now it’s 6:30, by this time and up until now the place wasn’t overly busy so the kitchen shouldn’t have had any delays.

During dinner I had ordered a beer. The waitress totally forgot. Cam back 10 mins later when my buddy was empanada asked if we needed another round- I politely satiated I was still waiting for the one I had already ordered.

Without realizing it they took my wife’s 1/2 full glass of wine when she and the other woman joining us went to the bathroom. We haven’t even received the check yet from the waitress when at 6:45 what I can assume was the manager came up and asked us to leave as they needed to flip the table. So much for a 2 hour window?

My recommendation is to give this place a pass for some place else that cares more about the dining experience and the quality of food than flipping tables.

Oh and I can’t speak to the other dishes but I ordered the steak special. It was cooked as ordered but tasteless and a little tough. I would not order it again not that I’d spend another dollar at this place until they clean up their act, retrain their staff, or open under a different name.

You’ve...
