I want to start by saying that I respect the restaurant industry and understand that things can get hectic especially during weekend hours. That said, I wanted to share my experience in the hopes it’s taken as constructive feedback.
I brought my niece and her partner, who are visiting from Georgia, to this spot after a beautiful day at Silver Falls. We were hungry and looking forward to relaxing with some drinks and food. We initially sat at the 21+ section, but had to move since one of us forgot their ID. Totally understandable.
Before heading downstairs, the employee asked to see my niece’s ID. Since she’s from out of state, they also asked to see her debit/credit card to verify her name. While I get the caution, it did feel a bit unusual especially since we hadn’t ordered yet. It made me wonder what would’ve happened if she only had cash.
Downstairs, we were greeted by a new server who seemed… off. Not necessarily rude, but distant, as if they didn’t want to be there or didn’t really want to engage with us. We ordered drinks and food drinks were great! But food took about 30–35 minutes, which we understood.
What was odd was the service flow. Our server came back to ask if we were ready for the bill… but we hadn’t gotten our food yet. Eventually, another employee brought our plates and asked if we needed anything else. We asked for forks, but they never came back.
When I asked someone again, our original server casually mentioned that utensils were still being washed no reassurance or clear follow-up. It just felt like, “Oh well.” My niece ended up asking for plastic utensils, and instead we were handed wet metal forks. We dried them ourselves and ate.
The server didn’t check on us again until the very end, and by that point, we just wanted the check and to go. The food itself was really good but overall, the atmosphere just didn’t feel warm or welcoming.
I truly hope this feedback helps. The place has potential, and I’d love to give it another try someday, but this visit left us with...
Read moreThe modern architecture definitely stands out in the quaint little town of Silverton. Upstairs was the perfect place to grab lunch on a gorgeous summer day - it's roofed, but completely open air otherwise (I think there are glass/window walls so it can be closed in during colder months). Felt like a place you'd find at the beach.
The menu is one that you immediately realize is going to warrant multiple visits to sample things. Same owner as Mac's down the street and IYKYK how great the food is there.
There were a few a few little misses, for me, but I'd def go back and likely more than once.
I had the pork belly banh mi po boy. It was ok. I'm a full supporter of taking creative license with traditional faves, but the sauce on the pork belly pretty much obliterated that signature brightness and refreshment the pickled veggies bring (and it wasn't for a lack of veg either). It's already served on a soft roll (more po boy style), so there wasn't much left of the banh mi experience. I'll def still go back but I'll probably stick to items that keep closer with the classic southern comfort food theme there, like catfish.
Service was acceptable, but I wouldn't call it particularly attentive. We weren't left needing anything but if we had, we may have had to go hunt out server down. And it was not busy.
Also note that all adult beverages are of the canned variety.
Restrooms are only accessible from outside, like a gas station set up. I think rainy season and winter will find that plan ill...
Read moreWe were told that they have very good nachos, so we went online and looked at their menu to see what else they have. Their menu states:
HAPPY HOUR MENU Wednesday - Saturday 3-6 pm 9pm til close
We waited until after 3 pm to order nachos, as they are only on the online menu for happy hour at $10. My husband showed up and was told that they do not have happy hour on Saturday. He thought that maybe he had misread the website, but when he got home we checked and it does say Wednesday through Saturday 3 pm - 6 pm.
We are being very careful with our money, so this change in price was worrying for us and I called hoping they would honor the price they have on their website. I was curtly told "oh, our website must be wrong" and the woman hurried to get off the phone.
My husband was offered a protein add on when ordering, and chose brisket, which turned out to be an additional $9, bringing out total to $23.
The nachos themselves are delicious, but a restaurant not willing to honor their own website and being so dismissive to a customer is extremely disappointing. I work in the hospitality industry, and this is not...
