Tomodachi Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Simi Valley

After living in Simi for 20 years, this was my first time here. Now I am really upset that I have missed this opportunity for so long. The premium sashimi plate was soooo fresh. Top quality, and I am incredibly picky having experiened the best in Japan over the years. Everyone else in my group really enjoyed their meals as well. There was not a single thing wrong. But above the excellent food was the quality of the service. Everyone there made us feel so welcome, and was always available to ensure we had the best experience. When my father was looking at the ginseng sake at the bar, we were even offered a sample without having to ask. Everyone had a smile and a truly positive attitude. I went back this week and realized this place is a rare gem out here in Simi Valley. The servers are excellent and the diversity in fresh sushi is amazing. I tried kumamoto oysters for the 1st time here. I dare you to find them at another sushi place close by. Or even a steak house. On special are fishes that many high end pricey, and frankly over touted due to celebrity influence do not even offer. Not everything is perfect. A few dishes are at the pedestrian level, but the fun is trying them out and finding the absolutely amazing dishes lurking on the menu. Their Monk Fish pate salad is amazing. Especially when served warmed. I've had fishes there I've not seen offered anywhere else. I'm almost scared to say how much I like them for fear of not being able to get a table again, but they really should be...

If you are searching for a place to eat, STOP SEARCHING AND GO TO TOMODACHI IN SIMI VALLEY! The food and service were top notch!! I heard this place had A1 sushi and my expectations were surpassed. I HIGHLY recommend coming here, all the fish were really fresh, prices were fair and they offer a variety that most sushi spots don’t. My favorite had to be either the Tomodachi roll or the uni.
