If you know me, you know I'd much rather donate my unwanted stuff to a small locally owned brick and mortar business like this one, rather than a huge conglomerate like Goodwill Industries any day of the week.... HOWEVER.....
it's so hard to donate here when I continuously see MOUNDS of donations THROWN AWAY in the dumpster behind the store after closing!!! What gives?!?? You're throwing away USABLE ITEMS!!!!
This store also has a REAL problem with a large group of homeless (that were kicked out of the Samaritan center for drugs or erratic behavior and whatnot) who SLEEP BEHIND THE STORE, going through the dumpster IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, making an awful mess, and screaming & fighting over the contents, hoping to score something valuable to trade for more drugs. This place desperately needs to clean up it's act. It's dirty & dusty inside, unkempt, disorganized, understaffed with ungrateful and lazy owners. Don't believe me? Just go around the back whenever they are open, and peek in at their donation room; literally filled with old dirty untouched donations TO THE CEILING, while overwhelmed, they just throw away new donations like linens, towels, blankets & sheets that could be used for the less fortunate, or even animal rescue. TWO THUMBS WAY WAY DOWN. 😕 Owners - GET MORE COMMUNITY DRIVEN, or you may find yourself be driven out by...
Read moreI am a big believer in donating what you no longer use so others can benefit. I do find it very frustrating at the Simi LA Ave location that the attitude of the staff receiving goods is pretty poor and often rude. Also, the practice of picking through your donations for the better items and refusing the rest is a terrible practice. Such items like a set of dining chairs with wicker backs and one requires a small repair. They were all refused. I would much rather go somewhere that will take everything, especially when bringing in hundreds of dollars in donations yearly and often at a time. Why be so picky? You should only turn...
Read moreIt would be nice if they were specific with what days are discount days. I was told on Tuesdays it was half off but when I went, I was then told it's only on Mondays and for Seniors. A lady there told me they no longer do 50% off days and if they do it's whenever the owner feels like it so you won't know til you go. The store was a bit organized, not a big selection to chose from and a bit overpriced for being...
