My wife and I came here for a casual date on a Friday night before a 7:05 pm movie at the nearby theater (probably no more than a 3 minute walk from the restaurant and I bought the movie tickets ahead of time). We walked in around 5:40 or 5:45 pm, and we were told it would be a 15 to 20 minute wait for a table for 2 people. There were several empty tables that were not being used, and it didn't make any sense as there were multiple parties waiting. We observed while we waited, and it just didn't seem like they were very organized in their processes, so in the interest of time, we decided to only order water and main dishes. The only extra item was a side of ranch (more on that later).
We probably had our order in by around 6:10, they brought us our water within a couple minutes, and after that, nobody checked in with us for a long time. We watched our server flirt with people at other tables that were ordering a bunch of drinks. The inequality of how some tables were treated far better than others was infuriating.
When it was almost 6:40 and we'd waited about 25 minutes without being checked on by anyone, I finally flagged down our server about the status of our food. They said 5 more minutes. During this same interaction, I asked for the check to be brought with the food since we were trying to get to a movie in less than a half hour. Sure enough, the food (jambalaya for me and a mushroom and Swiss burger with sweet potato fries for my wife) and check came around 6:45, but they charged 50 cents for the ranch and didn't bring it out, so we flagged down a random server to bring it out, and they did. We literally ordered one extra thing, and it was pathetic that they didn't bring it out the first time and we were still going to be charged for it.
My jambalaya was ok, but it was too small of a portion. I left not feeling very full and also angry with my experience.
My wife's sweet potato fries were good, but the burger patty was not seasoned, the mushrooms were bland also, and the cheese was cheap grocery store Swiss rather than artisan like the menu claimed. The bun was also cold and not toasted.
We've had similar issues with SoHo over the years, but never this severe. We will not be back. We were so relieved to pay the bill and get out of the noisy, unorganized...
Read moreOrdered food to go from Soho, our past experiences were good. I entered the restaurant and waited at the designated customer waiting area. They were busy, but not overwhelmed. I waited 10 minutes there before anyone acknowledged me, and the woman who did finally talk to me said, "I'll come back in a few minutes, we need to clear some tables".
She walked away before I could say anything, so I followed her and informed her I had a to go order. She told me the order was ready and to go pay at the bar. I paid and received the food a few minutes later. I wish the person on the phone would have told me to go to the bar for the to go order so I didn't wait 13 minutes or so to get my food. The food was barely warm when we started eating. The extra 12 minutes or so would have helped.
The people working there were overall pleasant, and the atmosphere looked like people were enjoying themselves.
The food was disappointing. My wife and son got the hot beef sandwich. You would expect a hot beef sandwich priced at $13 at a nicer place like Soho to be made with slow roasted pot roast that is fork tender and full of flavor, served with homemade beef gravy. The beef was sliced roast beef deli meat! The gravy was from a mix or a can, not made by hand with the juices of the roast beef. I guess there were no juices to make homemade gravy with since they use deli meat. This should be removed from the menu if they can't make a hot beef sandwich the way it should be made.
My other son and I had salmon with mashed potatoes and a salad. The salmon filets tasted good, but they were very small, 3 to 4oz at most. Smallest salmon filets I've seen at a nice restaurant. The mashed potatoes had chicken gravy on them, again from a mix or a can. The chicken gravy was just ok and really doesn't go with Salmon. Most restaurants that serve mashed potatoes with seafood have garlic mashed potatoes that pair well with the entree.
Overall not a great experience with the wait to talk to someone and the food quality / portion size. I guess I'll stick with burgers or the pork chop. Those have always been good at Soho. They should never allow a guest to wait 10 minutes before...
Read moreThe bigger male with dark, long hair 100% roofied me!!! My boyfriend and I went here last night. We sat at the bar and I asked one of the bartenders which martini was good. He wasn't friendly, but he recommended the pineapple upside down martini. It took about 10 mins to get it. My boyfriend noticed that he took a bottle to the back and came back with it. We didn't think anything of it. My boyfriend thought he was sketchy by the way he looked at us and acted. I had three sips and 20 mins later I passed out. When I woke up my boyfriend was standing next to me and a lady I didn't know was to the right. Apparently I was passed out for about 20 seconds. They said the other female bartender called 911 and the paramedics would be here soon. I was literally dripping sweat and felt like everyone around me was slow motion and echoed. They checked my blood sugar and blood pressure. My blood pressure was 80 and normal is 120. I ate dinner an hour and a half before we came there and had a pina colada. I thought maybe this happened from alcohol poisoning or I ate something bad, but I was fine and energetic until I was given that drink. I have no allergies and this has never happened before. I have felt like I was going to faint before if I hadn't eaten in awhile, but I just had dinner and I felt like I couldn't control this. When this all happened the bartender who made my drink was no where to be found!!!! Everyone we told this to said I definitely got roofied. Of course, I have no proof, but all the...
