My wife and I were excited to try something unique while traveling across the country. We read the reviews about this place while in the area and were looking foreword to eating here. If this review was based solely on the food, I would have given it a two or three out of five stars. The food was just okay, but not as special as I would have expected considering the Google reviews I read. I had their Pad Thai. I can honestly say that I've have had better Pad Thai many times and at many other restaurants, and the rest of my family reported that the Pho they ate was mediocre at best. Our server brought my son some lemonade and it had very little lemonade flavor. But this review isn't only about the food.
The service is what made the experience here terrible, not just mediocre and is why I would recommend eating someplace else when in Sioux Falls. It was some of the worst service I have experienced in a long time. I don't know the name of the guy who helped us, but he appeared to have a younger brother working there too. I've never met that guy in my life, but he was rude and unhelpful, and the exact opposite of what a high quality server should be. When ordering, we asked him what drinks they had, and, where most servers would have gone through the list of beverages they serve, he said, "we have Pepsi products." We asked what specific Pepsi products they had, but he only stared at us and offered no answer. We asked if the restaurant would half the size of one our our orders, so we would not have too much for our child to eat as we didn't want to take any with us as we were traveling and had no place to properly store the food. He said they couldn't do that after he said he checked with someone. He regularly stared at me with contempt for no reason I can figure out. I asked my family, if I was polite toward the guy. I thought I was and they said I was too. My wife, who always finds a way to see the best in people and offers everyone the benefit of the doubt, said the guy gave us all a rude disdainful look.
The guy's problem with me in particular is irrelevant, but I would recommend eating someplace in town offering at least reasonable service and better tasting food. I'm confident that there are better food and service options in Sioux Falls. My family and I had dessert in what appeared to be a separate yet beautiful downtown area, and found the service and food there to...
Read moreFinally back at this restaurant tonight and I have to rewrite my review because I didn’t do this little gem justice the first time. This place is amazing. From the friendly family oriented staff to the diverse cuisine this spot is a must for our family. We crave their chicken curry soup, it’s flavor is to die for and it taste like curry coconut love in a bowl. Bao buns are fluffy clouds of steamed dough filled with delicious pork. Their hot mustard is as legit as you will ever find and I’m pretty sure they make it there as well. It will zing your head, and that’s what makes it so good! Green papaya salad is a staple and you have to try it. There are many wonderful dishes to try here, so get outside your comfort zone! And if you can’t, then sticky rice with pork is a consistent winner. You’ll love every bite. 😋 If I could give them 10 stars I would.
Thank you for not dumbing down your food and sticking to what...

I had an amazing experience at Phnom Penh Restaurant, which truly felt like a home away from home. The mix of Vietnamese and Cambodian food was exceptional, bringing back a sense of comfort and familiarity. As a nurse myself, I love the fact that the owner shares the same profession, making the place feel even more personal and welcoming.
The food was delicious, and I was especially impressed by how authentic everything tasted. However, if they could add Bánh mì to the menu, it would be absolutely perfect! It would make an already great menu even better.
The restaurant was spotless, including the bathroom, which was very clean and well-maintained. The whole place has a fresh, clean smell that made the dining experience even more pleasant. I highly recommend Phnom Penh Restaurant to anyone looking for a cozy place with fantastic food and a...
