Live in neighborhood next to Cypress & heard all the bad reviews from local people plus read them on here. Gave it a chance anyway. I def wouldn't spend money here again. Nice atmosphere/layout inside and quaint and quirky local themed decor that had so much potential wasted on less than mediocre food, cocktails & cleaning. Need a professional to come in and revaluate to fix things for owner maybe. Servers were sweet but young & unfamiliar with the menu. Pulled pork mac n cheese special of the day sounded good but wasn't & had a few tomatoes chopped in it to simulate pepper jack instead of just peppers? Idk. The theme & concept has potential but recipes need serious revisiting. Charbroiled Oysters which usually smell heavenly everywhere else smelled rancid here. Cocktails are juvenile. Portion size & accommodations do not reflect high prices at all. Hard to discern with kitchen & servers if certain diets or allergies could be accommodated. Also, do not appreciate an uncensored music station being played with multiple curse & inappropriate words if it's supposed to cater to the whole family. Strawberey cheesecake " Bread Pudding" made from dessert scraps. Very thin and VERY dry with no rum sauce or anything. Served with sugar water diced strawberries. I ordered to be on side. Didn't taste bad but very skimpy for price considering it's literally made from leftovers & not exactly what I imagine bread pudding to be at all maybe rename it. "Mac n Cheese" ... pulled pork one. Special of the day. With some raw diced tomatoes & canned jalapeños. Do not recommend it. Would not recommend the mac plain without pork or tomatoes/peppers either. Was told they only serve crawfish mac n cheese. Can't do it without crawfish. But here we are. Making a deconstructed looking & tasting mac n cheese...
Read moreI ordered via DoorDash so I can’t speak on service or atmosphere, only reviewing the food but it was really, really bad. So they post wildly misleading photos online of their food— now I don’t know if these pictures were inspiration pics for how the dish would look in theory, or what, but attached is what the crawfish macaroni I ordered is advertised to look like. I am not exaggerating when I tell you what I got was elbow macaroni with a PILE of half melted shredded cheddar on top.. I wish I still had my pictures saved that I sent to DoorDash & could put them side by side but this was 3-4 months back and I clear my gallery out every so often. The second item I ordered was a cup of chicken and sausage gumbo and upon opening it…it sort of looked like ground beef inside. Like I’m not sure if it solidified somewhat but I was not bold enough to try it. Was refunded completely by DoorDash but I am not ever able to try the food here again… that was too much.
I also find the review by Dino Githens interesting. Sure they could be waiting on redfish or flounder, seems a little coincidental but the oysters thing is just a flat out lie. Oysters are available year round in Louisiana and every other seafood restaurant in the area has them all year. And we all know...
Read moreLex was our server and she did a good job! For the positives: We ordered the Cajun Crab dip with fried bow tie pasta. I really enjoyed it! I ordered the 8 oz Tuna Steak blackened and rare, with the jalapeño hush puppies, and crawfish mac n cheese. The Tuna was seasoned and cooked perfect. The sides were both delicious. My wife ordered the blackened shrimp po boy with onion rings. After she swapped po boy bread to a bun she enjoyed it. The Remoulade sauce for the onion rings was probably the best I’ve ever had.
Now the constructive criticism: walking through the doors into the restaurant, it smells like a fresh fish market. Not disgusting but different to say the least. The po boy bread was so hard, I heard my wife say oww trying to take a bite, as it hit her lip. She swapped to a bun and that solved the problem. It says on the menu u get two sides with the Tuna either regular side or specialty side, but does not mention specialty side is a dollar extra. No big deal but should be mentioned in my opinion. My wife didn’t care for the Cajun Crab dip, she thought it was like cream of soup with crab.
All in all good experience, good food, and...
