It is not fair to be forced to give even one star when posting comments to any forum. Especially when reviews are equally important to both the business, and possibly moreso to potential patrons, especially when WARNING the public of possible risks before ruining someone's visit, or special occasion.
WARNING this is something I feel possible guest should be notified of so that other arrangements can be made if needed. My family and friends all agreed to have our Christmas get together at Fuji Yama's. There were 10 of us in our group, which is 2 more than the restaurants minimum requirement to sit at the Hibachi. All but two in our party were having Drinks and Hibachi dinner. One of the other two were having drinks, both of them wanted suishi instead, but we told at least one of them would have to eat Hibachi, or else they had to sit away from the group.
When deciding to leave instead, the boy who sat us and was taking orders said to please wait and he would speak to the manager. After a very brief moment, he returned and said that one of them were just going to have to order it, even though 8 of the 10, according to their own requirement we're having the hibachi. Needless to say the offensiveness made their decision for them. Like being forced to select at least one star, they were forced to chose leaving their family and friends, or leaving them and the restaurant altogether.
Fuji Yama's offended them so much that there really wasn't a choice, they decided just to leave. Here is where this disappointment turns into a beautiful story. You see, the 2 that left were my wife and I. My wife was going to sacrifice her choice, after looking forward to sushi for dinner, so that we did not have to leave our very loving family and friends. Neither of us wanted to make a scene, though we were both greatly offended and easily could have shared what was happening to us for all to witness, but we did not want to upset anyone's dinner, including others besides our group.
Upon leaving, my wife stopped and asked the host, if she could please speak with a manager. Knowing my wife, this was her last ditch effort at trying to save the evening so that we did not have to leave our family and friends. It's Christmas and leaving really sucks, but sitting in a completely different section away from them, but watching from afar is just unthinkable. But Get This... she was told, "There isn't a manager here tonight."
As we got into the car and started backing up, my phone rang. When I answered it, I heard hold on, wait up. We did not like how all that went down. We all left. Would y'all like to go somewhere else? You want to go to Longhorns? "Great," I said,"yes we would love to." As I hung up, someone else was now at our window. Upon opening it man, we hear, "Hey, to hell with them, we all leaving, let's all go somewhere else." To make an even much longer story wrap up before I lose your interest, if I still have it, that is exactly what we did. Everyone went to Longhorns and we had a wonderful time. This is my Christmas story that I will remember and share for the rest of my life. Make no mistake, I am giving ABSOLUTELY NO CREDIT to Fuji Yama's. ALL THE CREDIT GOES TO OUR LOVING FAMILY AND LOVING FRIENDS.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
EVEN FUJI YAMA, who has lost our business permanently. But one last thing? If there was no manager there, why were we told the manager was asked and denied our request? If they serve alcohol, and they light near explosive fires, why wouldn't a manager there at all times be law and/or...
Read moreI went here with my husband and a friend on a Friday night. It was very busy and crowded, and we did not mind waiting for a table. However, it was not fine when a hostess literally ran by and barked what sounded like a brief grunt at us, then rapidly disappeared. We had our backs to her and were talking when she came by and we were uncertain if she had even addressed us, so we stayed in place. We watched uncertainly if we should go and seek her out, when she reappeared a good distance away and impatiently indicated for us to come, so we went. That was disconcerting.
We were directed to a booth. As we went to sit down, the bench seat abruptly slid away on the bare floor, causing a big gap to open between it and the table and we nearly lost our balance and fell as we tried to sit without falling, as we were already in the act of sitting and the seat was sliding away. This was quite unexpected and we received no warning from the hostess, who was already long gone. Had we been less agile or elderly, we could have easily fallen onto the floor and potentially hit our heads on the table.
We each ordered a combination tempura plate. This was disappointingly stingy with one stalk of asparagus, one mushroom, one small slice of sweet potato, and one item that was unidentifiable. It was tough, chewy, fibrous, and wholly inedible.
Our friend ordered a vegetable plate and requested a substitution of brown rice from the usual shrimp fried rice. Our server, who never greeted us nor cracked a smile, indicated this was fine and would happen. The plate arrived with a healthy heaping of the wrong rice. Our friend reminded her he had asked for brown rice. She took it away. It came back with the vegetables stone cold and a serving of hot brown rice that had obviously been heaped on the same spot where the shrimp fried rice had been scraped off. Our server informed us they use a microwave to heat the rice. Obviously, they did this with no covering to preserve moisture and perhaps the rice was even old. It was dust dry and had the unpleasant consistency of plastic pellets. He couldn't eat it and asked for hot vegetables and new rice. They refused, so he asked them to simply take it away and remove it from the bill.
The server argued and got ugly, indicating all she could and would do was take 20% off. He said he hadn't eaten it and wouldn't eat it, and he refused to pay anything for it. Eventually, he had to talk to a manager and the offending plate was taken off.
The "hot" tea was cold. We gave up trying to get our server's attention to replace it.
Their attitude was unfriendly, uncaring, and careless. It was a really unpleasant evening.
This place just isn't worth it. We will never return and we will never...
Read moreIf you have a seafood allergy and want to sit at a hibachi table, this is NOT where you want to go. Went for dinner tonight and left after drinks were giving. Person at the door was rude. Made sure they mentioned we would be charged 18% gratuities on the check because there were 5 of us. Told them I tip according to service and it’s illegal to make me pay a tip and would like it taken off the bill. Door person said “no you have to pay it we can’t take it off.” I was ok with it even though the tone was wrong and insisting I “HAVE” to pay it. We were seated and immediately waitress had an attitude. Took our drink order and one of us asked for a sweet tea with extra ice. Drinks came out and ice tea had very little ice. So we asked for a cup of ice on the side. Again, not a big deal. Waitress asked if we were ready and we started to order. When I ordered my food (we were eating Hibachi) I made sure to let the waitress know I had a seafood allergy. Waitress told me I couldn’t eat hibachi that it would have to be done in the kitchen and brought out to me. I told her I just wanted mine stuff cooked away from the seafood. Waitress insisted it wasn’t possible and that the cook would use the same “knife” to cook everybody’s. I asked why couldn’t he just use a different knife for mine and waitress said he wouldn’t do it for one person. So waitress pulls another waitress to explain to me again what she said and that it would be cross contamination on the hibachi table and they would need to clean a grill off in the back just for my food and use different knives. I did say that it didn’t make sense that they would clean off a grill and use new utensils in the back but they couldn’t use one extra knife for mine at the hibachi table. So we got up and asked for the check just for the drinks. After waitress talked with another lady packaging to go order up front, she said we could go and sit back down they will take care of it and cook mine away from the seafood and use a different knife. At that point we had coats on and were at the front door. I didn’t even get to drink any of my drink along with my child but I still paid for them. It cost me $17.83 for 5 drinks…. No apology and the nastiest looks from everyone upfront who works there. I’ll go to Sogo from...
