Not sure if I just caught them on an off day, but service really seems to have gone down hill. I ordered takeout tonight (a roast beef sandwich cooked medium with grilled onion and regular fries). When I got to the restaurant to pick up my order, I told them my name and what I ordered and the hostess that handed me the order verbally confirmed it was mine. I got half way home, when I noticed that they had given me someone else's order with a completely different name on the receipt. Not really sure how this happened since I told them my name and the hostess "looked" at the order receipt to confirm as they handed it to me, but at any rate, I understand mistakes happen and so just turned around and went back to the restaurant to give them the incorrect order back and to get mine. When I returned back to Chelos, the woman's order that they had accidentally gave to me was waiting at the counter for her order and it seemed neither her or the hostesses even knew that it had accidentally been given to me 10 mins before ... because when I read off the name on the order they had accidentally gave me, they looked panicked. They took it back from me and just handed the very same bag to her which left me dumbfounded. Now I'm a clean person and didnt touch the food, but even then I dont think that's very safe to give a person food once its left the restaurant because how do they know it hasent been tampered with? I hope that woman told them to remake her food because I know I would have. Regardless, I was handed my order, and saw my name was indeed on the order receipt this time, so I thought I was finally all set. Except, I get home and open the container to find that my sandwich was missing onion, cooked well done, and they gave me curly fries instead of regular fries. All in all, really disappointed and probably wont be back after...
Read moreWent to Chelos 12/23/2021 in Smithfield Waited for our food for a hour 2 of the 3 entrees come out. Burger was made incorrectly and had the wrong fries. The other was cold and the 3rd one wen didn’t get yet. When the 3rd entree came out we told the waiter that the food was cold and wrong and we needed to send it back. He didn’t give us the 3rd entree either he walked away with it.He got the main waitress and we told her what was wound and she got a manager. The manager Lauren came over and asked what was wrong we told her but her attitude was horrible and she treated us like we were liars. I wouldn’t have complained if I didn’t have to. We are not paying for cold food, food cooked incorrectly or the wrong order. She said she watched it come out and it was hot. She probably watched it come out hot but it probably sat on the counter for 20 min getting cold! Never have I ever been treated like that. The manager Lauren acted like we were the problem. She needs to know how to manage better than what she does.. yes she said she would fix the problem but don’t treat your customer like their are wrong especially when they are not. You do not treat your customers like they are liars I was not looking for a free meal. I would have not probably. I do not recommend this Chelos at all! And I will be calling Lauren’s manager to advise them that she needs to be trained again...
Read moreTwo people got take out.. $63 for a pint of white chowder. Nothing in it..half dozen clam cakes..so greasy..it was dripping out of the bag. I had a steak medium rear. It was just about well done. No taste and the two sides were about as big as a child school cafeteria and again no taste and a LOT of fat. My husband had to go back in because they forgot the malted vinegar he asked for on the phone 3 times. It was pouring out. The only reason we didn't take it back. I realize it's a chain and neither of us care for chain restaurants but he had worked 16 hours that day, cold pouring night and I wasn't feeling well so we went for it. The first two dinners I wanted. They don't serve on Saturday nights. I wouldn't order a steak from a chain restaurant but everytime they said they didn't have what I asked for. I took the steak because they were rushing us on the phone. We ended up throwing most of it out...NEVER again..I don't usually write a bad review but don't waste your money. $63 dollars for take out is pretty hefty when it was cooked wrong, fatty and greasy clam cakes and the chowder was a thick milky consistency with nothing in it....
