Slim Chickens — Restaurant in Smithfield

Hate to leave 2 stars cause this place was one of my favorite spots but the last few times in the drive through takes a really long time even if only one or two cars. Chikfila can get 20 cars through in the time they get 3. Today there was one car on the left speaker I went to the right speaker and no acknowledgement and then after about a minute another car gets to the left speaker and get their order taken and still nothing after waiting a few minutes I pulled up and then went to the left speaker and still nothing for a couple more minutes. At this point I am the only car in the drive through for a little bit then after two more cars show up I get to take the order. Once I got to the window I added on two extra ranches that I paid for and had to get out and go inside because they did not give them to me. Not sure if short staffed or what but no one was at the register and the guy with what looks like the headpiece for taking orders was chilling on his phone. Maybe he has something going on and he needed to be on it or maybe that’s why it’s taking so long to get orders through. Then once I got home I realized they didn’t even put the bbq sauces in the order for the tender meal I got… man this place was great and rolling when it started. They’d write your name on the cups and go above and beyond but that has since faded and while the food is good, this today is my very last time going through their drive through and I doubt I will desire to return inside especially when there are other places like chikfila and Smithfield’s to go to instead. We arrived just after 5pm on the day after opening day. Of course it was packed. I believe both of the owners were there directing traffic, which was a nice touch. The woman who took our order was exceptional! Great customer service & southern hospitality on 💯. The food/drinks: The drinks came in reusable cups (only with the chicken sandwich meals). Kids meal had a boatload of fries and two chicken fingers, it’d be better if it was three, but I digress… My son ordered a Oreo cheese cake jar and received a brownie & heath bar jar, but surprisingly enough sugar is sugar and he was still pleased. My family were very enthusiastic about the chicken…. Stating the unthinkable, “it’s better than chick fil a” 😢 As for me, my taste is a bit more distinguished 🎩, and the chicken seemed chewy, almost rubbery. Maybe it’s some of that fancy new bioengineered chicken. Maybe it was over cooked. I’m not sure, but I’m slightly disgruntled… not completely, however because I finished all but the last bite. Also, there are no grilled chicken sandwich meals, which seems odd since they say they make each order “fresh”. All that to say, I will likely return, for the kids… it’s all for the kids. 😂

Worst chicken meal I've ever had at a fast food chicken place. Chicken club sandwich Oily wet outside of the bun, paper thin pre-cooked rubbery bacon. Small piece of chicken about 3/4 the size of all competetive fast food. Tough piece of chicken. Refrigerated unmelted cheese. Hard, yellow center tomato. 35 cents for each extra sauce. Fries so salty the inside of my mouth is swollen. Some manager guy asked how everything was. I told him and showed him all of the above. I got an offer to make something else and a quick I'm sorry - all as he kept walking by. Based on the quality of what me and my wife had it wasnt worth a try or the wait. They're trying really hard to be a Zaxbys but not even close. About $1-$2 more for everything than Chick Fil A, Zaxbys or Smithfield Chicken. Signs everywhere warning you that you may wait because everything is cooked to order yet our meals almost beat us to the table on a very busy Sunday afternoon. So bad it was a one try and out visit. I'll never return. We left our meals there and walked out and went home and had some soup! Chicken tenders, mediocre - better than carnival food, but in no way do they compare to ANY other chicken fast food...
