If there’s ONE thing you can depend on, that’s me giving an HONEST review! I will be honest, I’m very DISAPPOINTED! Let me explain.. Imagine being hungry, new to the area, and French Toast ATL pops up on your “near me” search. You go there, order the Banana Fosters French toast, side of grits and catfish to go. You receive a promise that your food will be ready by 9:03 am. You show up to pick up your food, you see smiling faces outside (one of them is the owner) and you hear “ Bonjour!!” This catches you COMPLETELY OFF GUARD!! So immediately you smile and say “Bonjour!” Then you walk in to the establishment, it’s clean, smells great, and you see more smiling faces that overwhelmingly say “Bonjour!” The men are clean and well presented, very well groomed with their beautiful yellow shirts and aprons. They offer you a seat to wait in your meal. And before you know it, they hand you your order at 9:02!!!!!!!! You thank everyone, you get in the car & drive off. As you are driving you open up to look at your food but you know that you won’t eat in your car because you have a “no eat” policy in your vehicle. You look at the fresh bananas on your warm thick French toast, you look at the fresh crispy catfish and the grits look so delicious! So you immediately begin to pour the warm caramel on the French toast!!! Your hands are so out of control!!!! And next thing you know, your stuffing your mouth and devouring all of the food you just ordered.. still hot!!! And before you can make it to your destination, you have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LEFT! Yeah. I’m very disappointed that I broke my “no eat” policy!! However babyyyyyy the experience and food here at French Toast ATL was. 20/10!!!! Go here! It’s sooooooooooo worth every penny and plus great tips! You won’t be disappointed!! (Unless you have a “no eat” policy in...
Read moreThe aroma alone is enough to draw you in at Toast on Windy Hill, but the food is what will make you a regular. I'd heard a lot of buzz about this spot and decided to try it, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. My friends and I went for a late breakfast, and I was immediately drawn to the unique fusion of Southern and Caribbean flavors on the menu.
I ordered the oxtails and my friend got the curry goat, and we were both blown away. The oxtails were fall-off-the-bone tender, cooked in a rich, savory gravy that was seasoned to perfection. Pairing them with the creamy, buttery grits was an inspired choice; the grits soaked up all that incredible flavor, creating a dish that was pure comfort food elevated to an art form. My friend's curry goat was equally impressive—tender and succulent with a complex, aromatic curry sauce that had just the right amount of spice. It was a flavor explosion that was both satisfying and memorable.
To finish our meal, we decided to get the beignets, and they were the perfect ending. They arrived at our table hot and fresh, dusted with a generous amount of powdered sugar. Each bite was light and airy, with a slightly crisp exterior and a fluffy, doughy interior. They were just right—not too heavy or greasy, making them the ideal sweet treat to cap off a fantastic meal. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. Toast on Windy Hill is a culinary gem, and I'm already planning my next visit to try more of their...
Read moreWe visited last Sunday; had been intending to go for awhile now...1st thing...the staff is GREAT! They are very welcoming and loved seeing the diversity (young, older, Asian, Black, Hispanic, Caucasian). Mike was our server and he was great. The beignets were very well done. But...parking is crazy, expeciailly on a busy day and time. Expect to circle at least once or twice or three times efore finding a spot. Inside, there was a saxophonist who was decent BUT the place is way too small for music that loud. It's bad enough you can't hear your dining partner due to the high ceilings. The place is NOISY...the music didn't help. Now...the food...it was fresh and the portions are WAY TOO BIG. The french toast is HUGE. No one needs that much bread!! Two slice of french toast with your orders. Way too much powdered sugar, too much icing, too much sugar. It was like 'Destination Diabetes'. The menu is so extensive...way too much but not a lot of variety...It was French Toast this and French Toast that...(I get it, the place is named for that dish) But even the Grits menu was oxtail and grits, short ribs and grits, salmon and grits ( you get the picture) Those who love to 'Brunch' for the sake of doing so will like this place But if you want variety, healthier menu options and a place quiet enough to have a conversation with your dining guest...then this may not be the...
