As soon as the first bite disappeared into our mouths, we were a little indignant. "Why aren't there lines outside these doors? How could there possibly be any seats left in here?"
Perhaps it's because Jeremiah's is tucked away in the corner of an unassuming complex. It's hard to miss if you weren't specifically looking for it, and we ourselves estimated we'd driven past it several hundred times before someone told us it was their favorite dessert spot in Smyrna. Or maybe more people don't know about it because it features Italian ice in its name. If you're anything like me, the very phrase conjures images of tasteless, watery slush.
But Jeremiah's does something clever with their Italian ices. Not only is there a wide array of flavors, but they layer them with smooth, decadent soft serve and mix-ins, so that you end up with a sweet combination of flavors. They call these 'gelatis'
Of course, if you really wanted an Italian ice or a soft serve cone on their own, that's always a possibility. But after trying a meh sample of some of their more daring flavors of ice (like their peanut butter), I could see these were really meant to shine with ice cream. After some head scratching indecision, we chose from the menu of Jeremiah's favorites and selected a cup of the strawberry shortcake, which was STUNNING. Two kinds of Italian ice - strawberry and cake batter - along with vanilla soft serve and Biscoff cookie crumbs. I don't know who thought up this combination, but they deserve some hearty back pats because it tasted exactly like cold spoonfuls of strawberry shortcake.
Suffice it to say we were delighted with our first visit and will be back to try some of the other delightful...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe staff is obviously well-trained. THERE IS A WAIT, but Iād rather wait for GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, than be RUSHED with poor service. They maintain calmness in spite of the number of people in line, as it can overwhelm some, understandably. I read through some of the comments and I think that we all should be offering more grace, ESPECIALLY in light of our ānew normalsā during the last year and half plus. Businesses are short-staffed, but people are getting out more. You should expect a wait.
My friends and I patronized Jeremiahās for the first time a couple of days ago. We found out about it through a coupon we received in a MailPack. As soon as we got to the window, SEVERAL people got in line after us lol.
The young man at the counter asked if it was our first time and proceeded to tell us all about the menu. They offer free samples, but I took a shot in the dark and ordered a Strawberry-Lemon (Italian ice flavor) and vanilla (gelato flavor) āgelatiā. IT WAS THE BOMB!
The next day my friend and I dropped by again. The young lady asked us if it was our first time (I appreciate that they donāt assume, as it shows they desire that everyone knows what each menu item is and want to explain it to them.) Even with us having already visited the day before, she still PATIENTLY allowed us to sample and decide on what to get. We decided to go with one of her āsecret menu itemā suggestions. Admittedly, some of the flavors sound a little sketchy to be Italian ice flavors, but I trusted her. To our surprise, we both LOVED the option!
It is way too close where I reside to be...
Ā Ā Ā Read more2 stars because Iām nice and I like Jeremiahās at other locations⦠went with an hour before closing - so I get that they were trying to start cleaning and what not before doors closed, but one girl cleaned while there were 6 people in line which resulted in me waiting about 30 minutes to get my order. After I had ordered my grasshopper combo (I was at the front of the line), the cashier told everyone after me that they were out of a lot of flavors. What they failed to do was tell me that one of the flavors in mine is one of the many that was out. The girls just laughed with each other when they realized and did not tell me once handing me my order.
I also went a few weeks ago and ordered a gelati with PEPPERMINT ice and vanilla soft serve. I went through the drive thru so I wasnāt able to check before leaving, but by the time I got home, I tasted it and sure enough - it was Cherry. Two very different flavors. Totally disgusted. I immediately tried calling to notify and no one answered or ever called me back even after leaving a voicemail.
This location is not worth...
