Maro's gyro — Restaurant in Smyrna

Update: 2 years later I just wanted to say I tried the greek food in Murfreesboro and it literally does not compare in any way whatsoever, Maro's Gyro is the best greek food I've ever had to this day, I'll forever be a customer here

Ordering on-line was easy and intuitive. My hubby had a gyros platter and I had the Mediterranean sampler and funnel cake. We had delivery and it arrived hot! Good start to really excellent food. The Gyros was as close to doner kebabs as we've found in this country. The tzatziki was a little wetter than I'm used to so I was worried. Nope, it was perfect.

One of the biggest surprises for me was how good the tabouleh was. It looked like it was all parsley. I didn't see the tomatoes at first. I don't know where they get their tomatoes this time of year but they were flavorful and the lemon sauce was beyond description.

The biggest surprise was the chicken schwarma. I don't like chicken so my hubby was counting on it. It was out of this world!! He got not one bite.

I took the first bite of falafel plain and didn't care for it. The second bite got dipped in the rely good hummus, the combination of the textures and flavors made it some of the best of both I've ever had. And the abundant rice was perfectly seasoned.

The funnel cake looked like French fries with powdered sugar. Don't let that fool you! The flavor was great but the texture was unique in a very positive way.

Why four stars instead of five? The beef schwarma was a disappointment. It was more than edible, but not on a par with everything else.

It is too bad we are just staying 2 nights on our way back home. But tonight may be a repeat...

We had lunch for the first time at Maro’s Gyros, I wish we would have known about this restaurant sooner! As locals we are always looking for new places to try. The food here is fantastic! The gyros came fully loaded with fresh ingredients: lettuce, savory/seasoned meats, finely chopped onions, cucumber and tomato mix, cheese, ranch or traditional cucumber/yoghurt gyro sauce - all delicious!

The unique pita style gyro packs all the deliciousness into an easy to hold pocket. We opted for combos including a traditional gyro sandwich, a marinated chicken gyro, seasoned fries and drinks. Maro’s Gyros is very affordable, super fresh, fast, and we ate every last bite!

The service was friendly and welcoming and they took the time to explain options and flavors. The menu includes more than just amazing gyros, they offer chicken sandwiches, wings, salads, a variety of sides and vegetarian friendly options.
