I’m a barista at the North Dover Starbucks. I came to the Smyrna Starbucks on my day off to pick up an iced blonde oat milk vanilla latte with extra ice and classic syrup and when I pulled up to the window to pick up my drive-thru mobile order, the drink that the barista handed out to me literally looked like a watery iced coffee with maybe a splash of unshaken oat milk. It was a deep, dark brown color. I never come in and complain and ask for a remake, I just try to doctor it up at home or take the loss, but I spent nearly $6 on that drink and decided to go in and kindly ask for a remake. The barista who “helped” me was very defensive and told me that because I got vanilla and classic syrup with extra ice that my latte (which, lattes are made with like 75-80% milk), could only have a splash of milk in it. She asked me if I was sure I wanted extra ice because basically the drink would end up looking the same if she re-made it, apparently. I told her that I’ve had that exact drink dozens of times and it has never been that dark in color, not even close, and that if she didn’t want to put extra ice in it, that’s fine. She then told me again that she’d only be able to put a splash of milk in my latte to which I responded and told her that I am a barista at Starbucks as well, and I know how that drink is supposed to be made. I proceeded to tell her how I make it at my location, and she said, “that’s what I did. I’m the one who made the drink.” And I said, “okay well I’ve never seen that drink look that dark.” She handed me the drink, I said thank you, and she just walked away. I went in there as kind as could be and started off apologizing for having to complain and was met with a defensive, nasty attitude. At this point I just don’t want to order from Starbucks on my days off- I’ll stick to making...
Read moreAfter going to this location for a while now with my most recent trip being today I have to say that of all of the starbucks i've gone to around the country this location is the only one that screws my drink up 80% of the time which tells me that the training at this location is just bad.
Everywhere else gets it right, it tastes the same but here it's consistently bad in one way or the other. Every once in a while they get it right but it's rare. There has been a couple of baristas that made it correctly and if I caught who made it I would request that they do it if they were working that day but otherwise there's an 80% chance of it being trash.
I've watched them screw it up only to ask the manager to have someone else redo it. Once I saw a young woman make my wife's and my drink together although there were subtle differences like 2 espresso shots vs 1 and serve them up.
I just don't think I can do it anymore. I know it's busy at times but this is the only location where this happens (for me) and these coffees...
Read moreSpending three days in bed and an emergency doctors appointment for my Chronic illness, who knew a cup of coffee could make my day so wonderful! It was more than a cup of coffee it was the joy and laughter from the Smyrna team Starbucks, the understanding in the kind nature laughter of Kris who made my Java chip so special, and took such amazing care of me, it literally brought tears to my eyes. The atmosphere alone is enough to calm you, and when I walked in you can tell how great of a team they are here! If I lived any closer I would be there everyday because I think with a smile like that from everyone there especially Kris, no matter what’s in my cup could cure any of my illnesses for the day! #ashleyspecial amazing until the last drop! ❤️ And if I could give more than five stars I would give 1 million. One active kindness going over the top makes a world of difference you have no idea the impact that gives for someone! 1 million thank...
