A little disappointed from what I had heard. Waited behind another couple to be seated. Lots of activity, but no interaction with those of us waiting - walking by without saying anything to any of us, a "hi" or "hello" or "We're getting tables ready." Nothing. It was right at the end of lunch hour, but words are easy to waiting and hungry guests; and it wasn't that busy - many tables were open. Seated 4 of us and started into service, but server was there but not "present." Answered questions and knew the menu but no upsell or suggestions to try something/special or ask what we liked. My dad had to ask about the lunch special! Two of our waters were empty before being refilled. Bottled soda was brought with a cold glass but no offer for ice. Service ware arrived after the meal and after asking, as did the condiments. Side of dip was forgotten, and took too long to get out afterwards. Had to flag down server for to go boxes and check. Food was good but not great, portions were good, and I think value was within reason. I would have found much better value to the entire visit if the service level had increased significantly and the server had been engaged. I'm always willing to pay more in an environment that INVITES me to do so, even if the meal is on average! A "magnetic atmosphere" brings bodies in and pulls money out of willing pockets. I say all this on a single visit, as I was brought here while traveling on the weekend. I rarely make one visit without a return to verify my initial impressions, knowing places and people have off days; but I won't seek this location first when deciding on lunch in the area. I will eventually return and try a seat at the bar, my usual place to...
Read moreWe have given First & Union Kitchen multiple chances and every it time has been more and more disappointing. The food is ok, very large portions. However the service is terrible. My husband and I went this weekend and the waitress was very rude. The waitress came and asked us what would we like to drink. We ordered our drinks and I said, I think we’re also ready to place our food order. She used the hand gesture of “stop” and said “I’ll be back” in a very rude for service tone. She made us feel we should not bother her. A few minutes later she came and took our food order. During our meal I wanted water and I asked her for water. She never brought it. My husband got up and walked to bar to get me water. Never going back. We frequent downtown Snohomish as we live nearby, we will make sure we never go back to this establishment again. I am surprised at all the positive reviews. If this would have been a one-time-situation I would not write this review. But service here in the 3 out of 4 times I have visited has been bad with the last experience just being the worse. Manager/owner please train your staff properly. Thanks!
PS - I once saw a lady (customer) fall on the floor due to the steps by the bakery side of the restaurant. It was a loud sound and also people gasped. The customer’s friend and other customers came to help her out. Not one single employee came to check on her in the entirety of their time there. I found that...
Read moreMy family of 6 (husband, me and our 4 kids) were turned away and refused service because they only serve tables of 5. We have been eating here for years and have never been turned away before when joining with family, friends, etc. My family and I felt very hurt and unwelcome at a place we’ve been happily going for years and simply because we have a “big” family. (we were told the new general manager is the one who bolted down tables and made the rule of 5 people only). Snohomish is supposed to be a city that prides itself on its’ family values and here, in the heart of downtown, this restaurant is slamming the door in the face of big families. I read another review below where this happened to them too. Also, when we last visited, my sleeping baby in a car seat was made a fuss over as an inconvenience to make room for. I asked if they had a sling for the seat, etc and basically they told me they were liable if something was spilled on them while in the car seat. I’ve never ever had this made into an issue at other restaurants and most restaurants happily provide slings to accommodate parents if this is a concern. We came back months later and were turned away solidifying my understanding that parents of young children are not welcome here.
This place is not treating families of young kids well and I will not be dining here ever again over this. So very...
