If you don’t know about Grain, you must take the drive & get there! I will happily pay for these treasures. Grain is my absolute favorite gluten free bakery not just in WA but that I’ve EVER tried. I’ve been to ALL the gluten free & vegan bakeries in Seattle and the farmers markets & nothing compares. Not only is the owner Lauren extremely conscientious of sourcing her products from local farmers & committed to excellence with her dye free & all natural alternatives, her flavor combinations and texture of her products are out of this world and one of a kind. Really aligns with my values as a Masters-Level Nutritionist but I’m also a foodie and it has to taste great to feel worth my choice to indulge or I won’t waste my time! I don’t know what kind of magic she possesses but she is quite talented & also has always been open to feedback. I have an egg & dairy allergy & most gluten free and also vegan products taste like cardboard to me where you get grit & funky flavors. Like, not worth the splurge & sugar because other products I’m always left disappointed & my cravings were never satisfied until I met Grain. I’m a super taster & not to sound like a snob, but that means I pick up on the nuances & can be hard to please. 😂 Definitely go try a variety of products. My favorites are any of the chocolate cakes. They are perfectly sweetened, not too bitter but also not too sweet. Like if I’m indulging, I LOVE dark chocolate but there’s a fine line between better-for-you ingredients & also wanting it to still taste divine and decadent. Speaking of divine, the vegan cinnamon rolls are exactly that & my all time favorite. I’ve even baked my own from a very popular & talented gluten free baker who I highly adore & respect & even her recipe doesn’t even close to compare. Oh & the brookies & sourdough are wow, wow, wow. The brookies are so fudgey but with the perfect crispy bite on the outside and omg the buttercream fillings. Do you like carrot cake? That’s another favorite. And if you like unique flavors, the Cardamom, Pistachio, Rose cake with a little strawberry layer to complement the buttercream is drool worthy too. I’ve ordered my birthday cake from her for the last 4 years & it’s always a 5 star. My hubby & I have added this as a cozy, fun adventure for our weekend pleasures as the drive is so calming & pretty. And maybe the best part, is my autoimmunity/allergies have never been set off. My hubby doesn’t have to be dairy and egg free and he’s been loving the croissants too and all the dairy-filled goodies. He’s a sucker for high quality dairy if he’s choosing it. As far as I’m concerned, she can take all my money. 😂 It’s highly worth it and I’d rather pay for the highest quality and something I absolutely love for those times I want to indulge. Give them a try. I recommend them to all my clients who’s health also necessitates a GF lifestyle. Its 100% worth the drive and you have...

Read moreWe like cake. A lot. And we really love eating anything that comes from Grain! Heirloom carrot cake, chocolate hazelnut cake, honey cake, cardamom chai cake, cream Earl Grey cake... perfect ratio of cake to frosting (most of them are semi-naked), interesting flavors and just delicious. We've also tried the bombolinis (my fave is cinnamon sugar) and some killer cookies - like the cardamom ginger cookie sandwich, wow! I wanted to go back and buy them all so I could have one every day, no joke. We pre-ordered an Easter cake (white/pound cake w mixed berries and vanilla buttercream, I believe) and everyone loved it! Then my bf surprised me with a cake for my birthday and it was even better - vanilla bean cake, strawberry rhubard filling and cardamom (I think!) buttercream, with some gorgeous flowers on top. Beautiful and oh so good! Lauren is gracious and kind and we look forward to checking out her new store! Update: We are addicted to Grain. The GF cinnamon rolls w DF topping, whoa. I never want to eat a cinnabon again. Just the right portion size to pretend you aren't going to eat it all at one time, yet that's what happens. Can't wait to try the non-cinnamon rolls. For what it's worth, we are usually gluten-eating people but I will happily choose anything from Grain if given the option. If you think everything GF is nasty (ahem), you haven't tried the right stuff! The GF V salted chocolate chunk cookies would be a good start. (You can...
