ETA after business response: I'm very sorry to hear that you had a loss. But you know, I wasn't rude. I didn't do anything wrong. I didn't deserve to be treated the way I was. If your staff needed a break to process the loss, you should have given it to them and shut down for a night. And how DARE you assume we allowed our kids to act dangerously? We stopped them, and redirected them to play in a spot that was away from anyone else or any footpath. Also, judging from previous reviews-- you're great with locals, but spotty at best with anyone who isn't.
I guess we were there on a bad night. It got busy while we were there, and the kitchen was short staffed. We also had a large group of 11. We had 3 8yos, a 12yo, 15yo, and adults. A side of fries came out first. Then a bit later the rest of the food trickled out. Except the food for the 12yo and 1 adult. After over 60 minutes, they still did not have theirs. We had to ask repeatedly for things like the lettuce and tomato for a burger, for sodas, and of course the food for those 2 people. We never got checks, we had to hunt down someone to help us at the bar. When I asked for an update on the food, I got treated like I was being rude and unreasonable. I was told the restaurant was busy. I was taken aback by the rudeness, and said it been over an hour, at which point I was informed, with another large side of snot, that we were 11 people. The adult finally got her food, but the 12yo left never having gotten hers. Fortunately, my part of the group had more than enough of the (mediocre) pizza, so she was able to eat something. Overall, I'm sure the waitress will be happy to hear we'll never be back nor recommend the place. As far as I'm concerned, the locals...
Read moreTo lead: they did try to make it up to us which was nice but since we don't live in Soda and we wasted hours of our Saturday there, we're still quite disappointed. We tried to eat here on the 5th of July, a Saturday. We know Soda is overrun on this weekend and tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. By the foodless tables around us we could tell it would be a bit of a wait. The only reason we were able to get a booth was because a couple hadn't even gotten their drinks yet and they left exasperated. To make matters worse, we have a newborn and a 2 year old. We waited over 2 hours. That's a diaper change, a full bottle feeding, and a walk outside with daddy to calm the toddler down. Finally I asked another waitress if she could check on our food after I noticed another party that arrived after us was getting their food and GOD KNOWS how long we would have waited if I hadn't. Only to be told the waitress that took our order NEVER SUBMITTED IT. After waiting for that long with hungry bellies and upset babies, we left and went to Arctic Circle. I know everyone makes mistakes, I used to be a server. But the whole thing could have been avoided if the waitress had checked on us or even refilled our drinks once. We never saw her again after giving her our order. The whole ordeal was extremely disappointing and frustrating. We barely get to eat out because we have two small children but we thought we would since we were on vacation and it just went...
Read moreWow! There are a bunch of restaurants in this small area of Soda Springs next to the geyser. This one seemingly had the most variety on the menu, so we decided to give it a shot.
Wow. The food here is very good! I had the finger steaks (an Idaho original... Very good!), my buddy got the chicken fried steak (he's always on the hunt for a good chicken fried steak), and his wife got the shrimp basket (they were unfortunately out of fish).
Finger steaks were excellent, and the chicken fried steak was the best my buddy had ever had in a while (I had a bite... It was good). The mashed potatoes were excellent, and you could tell they were made by hand (like many things here). The English chips I had were excellent, as was the scone bites with honey butter we had.
Prices for all this goodness are excellent. The staff was very friendly and attentive. As a final note, we asked the waitress as we were leaving what she recommended we order when we come back.
If you're in soda springs, give Porter's pub a look (it's family friendly in spite of...
