I booked a double bed (ie 2 beds ) room online. When I arrived it took a few minutes to find my booking. The lady checking me in asked me did I know that the room that I’d booked didn’t have a bathroom in the room. There were bathrooms available but they were shared bathrooms with the other guests ‘European style’. ‘Wasn’t that on the web site when you booked ?’ , I was asked. I confirmed no it wasn’t. ‘If I wanted to have a room with a bathroom that would be $10 extra’ . As I was staying the one night I stayed with what I’d ‘booked’. |I should have taken up the offer to have a look at the room. The room turned out to be a basement level room. It had 2 x single beds ( not 2 x doubles that I’d booked), a fridge, a tv on the wall and 1 power point that was doing everything. It has no aircon. There are small windows up high in the room, one of which opens. It lets in a whisper of air but also lots of traffic noise. |There is a ‘portable fan’ that stands on the floor but it’s not stable and needs to be plugged into the crowded power point - so what do u want to not have work ? The tv or the fridge or the phone / tablet that needs charging or the fan ? Your choice.|The room itself is SMALL. It’s 3m x 3m. There’s not much room as is. Put a couple of bags in the room and it definitely squeezed.|The shared bathrooms are clean and tidy, but no - one’s used them yet. I’ve done my share of backpacking in the past and shared bathrooms are always a hygiene concern.|I double checked the TripAdvisor room booking and it definitely states 2 x double beds & makes no mention of shared bathrooms.|My advice, if you book this place, make sure you have a copy of yr booking details with you ( I didn’t as I’m on the road 100% and couldn’t access my emails ) and insist on being shown the room first. If it’s not what you expected, get it sorted out or cancel the...
Read moreA retro-quality experience. Built in 1949, I can't compare this to modern hotels. We stayed in room 30, in the building on the left of the parking lot. A very simple, small room. Knotty pine used throughout.
With both a double and a queen bed, the room was tight. Unfortunately, the mini refrigerator didn't work. I verified the power was on. We couldn't figure out if the unit over the bed was an air conditioner or a heater, or how to turn it on. I went to the front desk on a late Friday afternoon for help but no one was there. So we opened the windows and used the fan found in the closet.
The bathroom was also simple. A single light over a small mirror. A 1940's era sink that constantly dripped hot water but when turned on, only gave a very small volume of hot water. The shower pressure on the other hand would have been useful to power wash my car.
We wanted to check out and pay using a different card at 8:25 am on Memorial Day. A sign informed us the desk had been closed all day Sunday and would reopen at 8:30. At 8:35 we went to breakfast instead and returned to pay later.
I saw one of the rooms on the first floor of the main building and it was roomier. For the price, I'd recommend two rooms rather than one room with two beds.
If they hauled the broken concrete away from the back of the parking lot, gave the hotel got a much needed paint job, and added a few plants to fill the empty dirt outside the rooms, it might...
Read moreWe stayed here as we were getting too tired to drive any further. This was the only hotel within a reasonable distance for us, so we stayed one night. It was not the worst of places, but not somewhere I will willingly choose again. The receptionist at the front desk was super friendly and nice. She got us checked in quickly and we went over to our room. Immediately, we were uncomfortable as there was a group of 4-5 large men drinking and grilling on the front porch right next to our door. (The keys are turn key) We gathered our belongings from the car and settled in. The room smelled old and damp. There was no overhead lighting anywhere and only some dim lights. The bedding was definitely outdated as well. The walls are very thin and you can hear people next to you snoring. We decided to order food, but apparently there is no delivery in town, so we had to leave again and again, felt very uncomfortable going outside. Our door seemed to be the only one without an extra screen door in front of it, which isn't much, but still would have made us feel better. The room did have a fridge, microwave, and TV, which was nice. For a one-night stay, it worked, but I would not stay here...
