I grew up in La Jolla and went to high school down the street at Santa Fe Christian so I’ve been to this location and countless other Roberto’s over the decades. I would say they are most known for their delicious salsa and OK burritos. Most of my other favorite burrito spots have closed down over the years, but Roberto‘s is always consistently a good option. They don’t have the best version of burritos, fish tacos, or other items, but they always do the job and fill you up for a cheap price. This location is right next to the beach just off the 101 and has a lot of free parking attached. They don’t have indoor seating, just outdoor tables, but this is more of a to go type of place. Everything that we order is always made very fast so you won’t have to be waiting long.
The burrito invented in San Diego is called the California Burrito so it’s what I’ve been ordering since high school and get every single time. Their fish tacos are pretty good as well, but they have gotten a lot smaller over the years. I would say that you must get their medium salsa no matter what you order as that is their best item. I have been countless times and will be back many times...
Read moreAs a employer I’d hope that my staff not only would want to work at a good job during these times but also want to serve the public and be proud of that as well. Not the case here. I’ve been eat there since 1977. The food and service has gone downhill from there. I took my staff and family out for take out....not only was the young girl rude but the guys cooking messed up on our orders and didn’t read the order slips. The meals were correct on the tickets so that wasn’t the orders fault. Mixing up beef and chicken when “every ticket” was chicken except for one was really bad. We also observed other customers bringing there food back with tooth picks in there burritos. That was even before we got our orders. 3 cars had pulled up prior to return and have them make new food. At that time I should have guessed it was going to be a bad experience. Guess we shall stick to Juanita’s in...
Read moreThis burrito is disgusting. We waited for over a half hour and when we finally got our food we drove about 2 block to the condo we're at. Not even 5 minutes after recieving our food I'm biting into a stone cold burrito, like, it's not even the slightest bit warm, the carne asada is extremely tough, and the cheese is not melted. My mom's chile rellano was cold as well. I microwaved them so that we could actually eat something because we were very hungry, and it still tasted very sub par. I will NEVER consider this place again and will advise anyone who will listen to not waste your money on...
