Lambertville just got a serious upgrade with the new Speckled Egg Café, and after my visit, I can confidently say this spot is a must-try for locals and visitors alike.
Let’s start with the food—everything we tried was thoughtfully prepared and packed with flavor. The salt and vinegar French fries were an unexpected standout: crispy, tangy, and perfectly addictive. They’re a side dish that steals the show.
The sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich was a breakfast classic done right—hearty without being heavy, and sourced with care. The lamb smash burger was a bold, juicy take on a favorite, with just enough spice and depth to keep you coming back for another bite.
For something a little more comforting, the porridge was a surprise hit. Creamy, subtly sweet, and just rustic enough to feel like it came from grandma’s kitchen. And don’t even think about leaving without grabbing a blueberry scone. Flaky, not too sweet, and generously packed with fruit—these are the kind of baked goods that make you consider getting a dozen to go.
As for the service? Spot on. The vibe is laid-back and casual, but the staff never misses a beat. Attentive without hovering, friendly without being fake—it’s clear the team here knows what they’re doing and loves doing it.
All in all, The Speckled Egg’s Lambertville café is the kind of place you’ll want to come back to—whether for a cozy breakfast, a casual lunch, or just a great cup of coffee and a pastry....

What the heck is this magical place doing in the middle of basically nowhere. I've paid 2-3 times as much for less quality than you'll find here. Soup that was so elevated, I found the rest of my meals on the same downhill from there. A sandwich that was just perfect with a bun that was crisp on its entire inner surface. I literally stumbled in here on the way up to another destination but the food is good enough that I must make that drive up again and this'll be a main stop for sure. If you are even 20 minutes away, it's worth stopping in to this...
