Dibella is my all time favorite place to eat. This Dibella in particular I have eaten at an average of probably 2x per week for probably 15 years... Yea that's over 1,500 meals.
One thing I like most about dibellas is the speed. Walk in, place order, wait in line to pay, and by the time you pay your food is ready. I could get in, eat and be out in less than 30 mins. It was awesome.
Yesterday I arrived and they botched this model by changing the layout and customer flow/experience. Now you arrive and wait in a 15 min line to place your order at the opposite end of the restaruant. Customers waiting in line, paying, and waiting for food are tightly clustered in the same area instead of of being dispersed along the length of the serving counter. Then you wait another 15 mins while they make your food because they didn't start making it until after you waited in a long slow line. The efficiency is completely gone.
If I had to guess this is a reaction to an employee issue that punishes customers and the customer experience. Ive only ever purchased 10" subs at a Dibella, but 50% of the time your employee rings it up as the smallest sub and knocks $10 off the price. At first I thought it was an honest mistake... Then I thought they were hooking up a regular... Now I think you have/had employees that don't care and intentionally ring up cheaper orders on purpose. Either way the customer is punished by your new model.
Due to the extended waiting times under this new workflow, I can no longer eat here for lunch and will be finding somewhere new today. I'll definitely miss the...
Read moreThis is a review on my last 2 visits to the Solon Dibellas. went in to get a Chicken Philly and "Denzel".... took my order. 1st we established that it was a chicken Philly. After he asked what i wanted on it. before he would put each ingredient on it he would say "you said you wanted peppers on it"....." you said you wanted onions on it".... "you said you wanted"...(nothing wrong with being sure...but the guy was probably smoking weed in the hood since he was 12)long story short i get home and find out it wasn't a Chicken Philly but a Philly cheese steak. way to drop the ball Denzel. Today i went in and wanted to see if they could tackle making 2 sandwiches for me. Didn't catch the name of these 2 guys. one guy took the order without writing it down and had the other guy make them. as the meat was on the grill i noticed that all the veggies from sandwich one was on sandwich two.. easy fix just swap it before you put the meat on and wrap it up. Right? So after advising guy number 2 of the correction. he finishes up on the grill and starts wrapping up the sandwiches with out making the sandwiches how i asked. i called him out on it and then guy number 1 started to get and attitude so i told them to just wrap it up and i'll take care of it.. how do people like this keep jobs. attitude sucks, quality blows manager is nice but needs to realize bad employees give her...
Read moreI like the sandwiches, such as the godfather and uncle Louie. The service however is horrible. I just went today and they have improving the ordering system to those round vibrating devices, one per person. Mine worked and when I picked the sandwich a sourly manager-looking lady asked for the number, I flipped the darn thing and saw none, then she says, "it's four". I looked again and around the edge, and asked, "how do you know", and making aface she says "it's right there". Now I see the tiny little stick number and I say something like "ah, there it is" and laugh. Would you believe not even a perfunctory smile? 5 minutes later I thought my wife didn't get hers and she ordered first, so I asked for her pager number, which is 15. I told her the sandwich next to mine was 15, so she goes there and yes, the sandwich had been sitting there all the time and the pager didn't work. Not even an apology. There is an older lady there though who is a joy and always welcoming. The does cash register, cleans tables and restocks chips. Never stops. But when she is busy check-in out customers the tables srayscrumby and semeared of food condiments. The place is always cold, for some reason . But again, I go there for the sandwiches and would go more often only if management decided to mind...
