I wish there was a 6 star rating. Allow me to start by saying, I almost didn't stop here. We were exploring the area, looking for a place to grab a quick bite when I saw the special was seared tuna. I've had plenty of 'bar' food and some places cook a decent ahi tuna steak, so I thought, "Why not?". My girlfriend and I are both pescetarians (vegetarians that eat seafood), so our options are usually quite limited.
We decided to sit on the patio on this mildly chilly Friday night in mid October. They were experimenting with some new heating devices that encapsulated a 4 foot vortex of fire in glass cylinders. Very effective and added a great deal of 'awesome' to the atmosphere. The waitress was friendly and the prices were very reasonable.
I had a long island iced tea (the special on Friday) and my girlfriend ordered a hard cider. By the time our food came out we had the perfect buzz going. The presentation was great. This didn't look like your average, grease soaked, bar food... this is something you might see at a high end restaurant like Bone Fish, or The Columbus Fish Market. It featured a generous portion of tuna steak, drizzled in a spicy plum sauce with a medley of green and yellow beans and a side of garlic mashed potatoes.
I first tried the potatoes and found them quite pleasant. What I expected, and seasoned just right. My next bite was the green beans; they were cooked perfectly. Not too soft, and not too al dente. So that just leaves the tuna. My fork cut into the seared tuna steak, and as I placed the bite into my mouth, I think my brain exploded. My initial reaction was that they had to be spiking the drinks with extacy or something. The way the sweet/spicy/smokey flavors danced in my mouth, can't be described in any human language. A meal so amazing, that you feel an overwhelming urge to lick every last flavorful molecule from the plate once you've finished the last bite. It's difficult to accept that you may have had the best meal of your life, and it's all downhill from here.
It's an experience that I will never forget, and I fully intend to call every Friday to see if there's a potential for a repeat of this divine meal.
Truly... a diamond...
Read moreWith over 4 stars this place had to be good at some point in time however it is not very good anymore. Service was mediocre and that was the best part. Really wanted a chicken quesadilla but it's $8 to add chicken to an already $8 item. So it is $16 for 1 quesadilla! I opted for the corn beef at a more reasonable price but. It was horrible. When I got the menu that has 16 pages with everything under the sun on it, deep down i knew it was gonna be terrible. No place is good at everything. The cheesy fire station decore was well overplayed and I wish they put that kind of effort and enthusiasm into their food. The food in the pics were taken as is. This is how the plates were presented. The bacon that you see in the pic is all the bacon that was on the BLT. There was no more hiding on the sandwich. I'm not sure if this place just doesn't care or if maybe we weren't regulars but I won't be going back. I will say that the place did seem clean. Even if the food prep was being...
Read moreI used to love the food there however, this visit left me never to return! We went in for lunch today after church. My mom sister and our families and were seated right away. As we started our server was very unapproachable and rude! She was all over the place, which is understandable because the lunch rush was following behind us. Normally I never complain but this you can't leave unnoticed. She brought food out to the table next to us walked away then went back to the table to collect the food because it wasn't theirs! What!? Seconds later she comes back with our food and the plate was the same that she collected! I asked her if the food was from that table and she said yes but she didn't touch it. So you brought it to me? She said I can have them remake it if you want! Are you kidding me? I will never go back! If this is acceptable what else is? The sad part is the owner was in the kitchen cooking! I can't believe she let this happen! The health department should know...
