C J's Corner — Restaurant in Somers Point

I've been meaning to write this review for a few weeks, but am just now taking the time to do it.

I drive by CJ's all the time and never stopped in until recently. It's generally busy when I pass by during lunch hours and it's absolutely mobbed in the summer, so I should've known to avoid it at noon. I tried to get in at noon on Wednesday 1/4/23, but I opted not to wait for a seat to open up and decided to take care of something else and go back after 1:00pm. I'm glad I went back!

I hadn't eaten breakfast, so I ordered cinnamon bun pancakes with a side of bacon. Everything came out PERFECTLY. It's hard to mess up pancakes and bacon, but I could tell that CJ's has very tight standards.

The staff working the counter and serving were awesome too. The two young women working up front on 1/4/23 were SO pleasant to interact with despite having to navigate through the lunch rush. Whenever they weren't busy with serving or ringing customers up, they were working hard by cleaning and restocking. No one was wasting time which is a RARE sight in 2023 when almost everyone is glued to their phones.

For anyone that wants to go here for breakfast or lunch, BE PATIENT! It's worth the wait. Try to avoid peak hours if you can, but definitely stop in if you haven't already.

Best place for breakfast in Somers Point!

I tried to eat here in the summer but the wait was a bit too long. We had no wait on a Sunday in September.

Service was fast and just attentive enough - our server attended to the table frequently before we placed our order and once it was delivered, but then left us in peace to eat.

The food was outstanding! My daughter had the Oreo french toast special, my boyfriend chose the mustang bennie, and I had the crab cake benedict. The crab cakes were lightly pan fried and loaded with real crab meat. The hollandaise was homemade! I don't expect homemade out of an inexpensive breakfast cafe, so that was a pleasant surprise.

Of note were Cholula hot sauce packets. That was a nice touch.

There's not a lot of seating so it's no surprise there's a wait in the summer months. The atmosphere inside is very laid back with modern decor - wood-look ceramic planks look great against powder steel coated gray chairs and brightly colored plates and cups.

My fiancé and I had the WORST experience today. When we arrived there were multiple seats available, so we asked to sit outside. The hostess sat us at a dirty table, she took the dirty dishes, but didn’t wipe the table. We waited 25 minutes for someone to come out. Even after asking for service!! 4 tables sat after us and all received their food. We then have our server walk past us multiple times without bringing our waters. We had to ask for our waters a second time! The real kicker.. a couple sat right next to us a half hour into us waiting and immediately got service. They received their food and drinks before us. As we were in disbelief the server came over and took our syrup away for their table!!!!!!! I have never been so agitated at a restaurant in my life. Absolutely...
