Charlie's — Restaurant in Somers Point

Bartender was cool when we walked in, joking and all. He said we could sit anywhere and when we finally chose a seat away from the bar because I had 2 kids with us, we waited maybe over 5 minutes while several staff members walked by, one mentioning he was bartending the back bar when asked by a patron at the bar. No one acknowledged us and the bartender who greeted us made no audible mention to get a server for a table sat. One staff member finally asked if we had been given menus and provided us with such. When we finally got our server, she was sweet but it didn't seem like there was much urgency to check on our table. Coffee looked watered down and tasted as so. Cole slaw was warm and probably could've been good had it been cold. Fried shrimp was great. Crock of chili wasn't. My youngest started getting antsy and we couldn't get in touch with our server to get our check as she was with another table. However, when we did get our check, we weren't informed it was cash only. It took a bit to get our server to get to our table to pay and I had to bring my son out to get changed while getting him ready for our trip home. Then I was phoned by my other guest to be told we had to pay cash. It was a nuisance going in and out when it could've been resolved in one trip. Overall, I chose this place based on reviews and I can't say that it was all that it was cracked up to be. I don't think my review will make much of a difference but I wouldn't go back based on service, although, I would've given the food...

Well let's just jump right in as we enter the door the hostess desk is to the right . My husband and I stood in front of the desk about 8 -10 mins, I realized alot a places are short staff so with that being said we alway pack patients. The whole time we're standing looking lost the bartender is just watching us not saying a word, never once acknowledge us but he made she to keep his eyes on the both us, almost like side eyeing us at one point as if we're in the place why are you here, I don't know. Shortly after a lady come over then all eyes was on us can I help you? Yes! seating for two please "oh ok ...you can sit anywhere you like". So the bartender watch us for a long time he never parted his lips to us . We found a table sat down looked over the menu. Few minutes later a party of 5 came in the bartender was very warm and welcoming to them promptly informing them that they can sit anywhere they like. This went on a while with every single person that walked in the door, also even telling folks good bye. Why did my husband and I get treated so different? We had to stand and wait to be seated once the waitress came she let us seat ourselves. Why didn't the bartender tell us the same thing ? We picked up our boat so we have no need to visit Charlie's, we'll make sure and let the other not stop here for lunch it's only a certain type customer that's welcomed at Charlie's and the bartender has a great way of letting you know your not welcome! P.S the wings...

Bad experience. Its been a good amount of time since we had been to Charlie's and thought we would give it a shot. We order 20 boneless wings with half dry and half with sauce. Our server told us it would be fine.

We get the bill and they charged us about 40 dollars for 20 wings. I asked if there was a mistake and our server said that they really don't do what we had requested and what she had said would be okay. She said she had to ring it up as 4 individual orders of 5 wings that basically cost double the price as 1 order of 20 wings.

Aside from being finessed into paying double the price, the wings were not very good anyway. They were very chewy/rubbery. Not crisp and fresh.

In response to owner comments: I appreciate your response about the quality of the wings but you are incorrect about the waitress. She did not explain that she would ring it up as separate orders and even if she did, we were charged for 4 individual orders of 5 wings, not two separate orders. Putting aside the fact of the ridiculous way that you charge for just asking for half the wings to be dry, you did not tell us ahead of time that you would charge it this way. Your pricing for such a simple request is ridiculous and the nature in which you did so...
